What did you do in the Apiary today?

Watched the entrances, lots of ivy coming in, still plenty of wasps knocking around and have been a bit of a problem going by the amount of bee parts near the entrances. A couple had minimal pollen coming in and drones flying so not looking good for those, will find out in the spring.

    Dehumidifiers

I had some wet honey last year at 21% I extracted it and ran it slowly through a double strainer 3 times with the dry emerging air from a dehumidifier blowing under the strainer. The honey went down to 17%

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Prepped a few more supers for removal, backbreaking work as everything is completely full to the brim.Never seen so much brace comb,i'm sure if I had some spare supers I could have had another 2 supers per hive filled-bonkers! Balsam is yeilding superbly for me this year.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Interesting one today, took 6 supers off some close to home bringing them back by wheelbarrow. There were a few stragglers in the supers so I blew them all out in the back garden before bringing the supers inside. An hour later I was half way back returning the wheelbarrow to the farm when I...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Had a quick peep in the supers, weather is poor but the bees don't seem to mind atall, supers filling up very nicely!

    Where are the wasps?

Not seen a single worker wasp so far this year! I think the poor weather at the beginning of June has wiped out most of the nests,on a side note could be good news in the battle againt the Asian hornets. Anyone else noticed this?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Inspected 15 at the home apiary today, perfect weather and nectar pouring in. Was expecting a pretty easy day as all the colonies here have now been split so was mainly just checking for mated queens and progress in the supers. I was wrong 3 of my splits with newly mated queens were swarming ...
