    Swarm found my hive - relocation required

    I think you could be right Jonnybeegood, I noticed exactly the same thing witha swarm I collected a few days ago, I cleared the fence post of all bees and when i went back the next day there were more bees there, like yours they all eventually went back to the hive

    and so the story continues...... I went back to the hive today to check the bottom brood box for queen cells, eggs etc... I waited for a break in the rain, got suited up and went in, boy oh boy were they annoyed ! could not see any eggs but did see some more queen cells but to my untrained eye...

    Its just occurred to me that if they are making queen cells then they are getting ready to swarm ? Any advice on what I should do ? J.

    A nice break in the weather so got myself over to the hive and geared myself up for the task. I inspected the hive as I went down through the three supers, I have now removed one as it was not getting used at all. The two bottom supers both had a good amount of honey in them but not many bees...

    Thanks Kath, If the weather is ok tomorrow I'll give it a go. The hive is in a partially sheltered area so should be ok. Thanks for the offer of help, I may yet call you, J.
