    14X12 Nuc in Hampshire

Due to all the swarming earlier this season I have too many colonies & not enough hives so I'm selling off a 5 frame 14X12 nuc to free up one hive & part fund a new one. The Queen is a Carni/Hampshire cross, very good tempered & laying well & the conony is free of Varoa & all other disease...

Why won't my bees draw out the supers?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've got 3 14X12 hives that are all the same - they have drawn out all the BB foundation & filled so much of it with nectar & honey that the queens are running out of space to lay. Each has a super of 10 frames of foundation & there are bees in the supers...

    When to cull Drones?

Hi, newbie question again: I've got a national frame in my 14X12 that now has loads of capped drone cells below it. Should I remove the comb now? After what was maybe an over enthusiastic Oxiliac acid treatment, there is zero varoa drop & none in the few drone cells that I opened in the bottom...

    Bees on BBC1 9:00pm 23/3/10

Apparently Richard Hammond is presenting some new research that has discovered 'heater bees' that keep the cluster & brood warm & that the temperature of the brood determines what tasks the full-grown bee will perform.

    Thorn's Windsor sale

Did anyone manage to buy any sale items there today? I got there late, only to bump into one guy leaving who had got there before the sale started & still didn't manage to buy what he wanted (a brood box). Looks like theres a lot of new beeks!
