    Powering a Varrox

Well you are in a sorry state. You must have been bullied at school. The OP asked how to power a varrox. I have one (i use my car battery as I can get v close to hives) and looked in the instruction book. Simple, it says greater than 40ah. The instructions are downloadable here...

I still can't see what is wrong with pointing out the manufacturer's recommendations.

    Powering a Varrox

Why Mark allows you to post on his forum is beyond me. The post is pertinent to the thread, and if your opinion is to ignore the manufacturer's instructions then you have no need to use childish language to make your point. Personally I would rather go with the manufacturer than one of your rants.

    Macro photography kit

Re. Flash. The problem with a traditional ring is that it produces a flat image. The R1 units are off centre ad allow you to set one side lower output than the other, thereby introducing some shadow and therefore depth. Good luck. Quality optics are not cheap.

    Macro photography kit

Check out some of the Nikon dealers for a Nikon re-furbished which is worth buying. They come with a 6 month Nikon guarantee. Also, Wex give a 12 month guarantee on used if they have one. Note that the Vr and possibly the autofocus are a little noisy on this lens, it is fine if you hear it.

    Macro photography kit

I have that lens and it is excellent. The Nikon R1 is the natural fit with this but it is expensive. The yongnuo flash units are also well regarded (I have never used one) http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/54107155 FYI Nikon have at last just launched a successor to the D300s, the D500.

    1. yes 2 and 3. I am not clear re. this. My book says that workers lay eggs and that some of these develop into males, usually at the edge of the nest (presumably away from the q. pheromone). It also says they often eat the worker laid eggs when there is a dearth of food. 4. Re-use as far as...
