Dead Bees I also did a visual check on my bees this weekend and found approx. 200 dead bees in total around both hives and some were clinging onto hive. So should I assume that some were dead in hive and evicted by bees and those clinging to hive got caught out by cold weather? Was warm...

I only started beekeeping this year and was wondering whether any of you make your own fondant for feeding bees or do you buy it?

I panicked too when I found a couple of wax moth larvae in a tray I had put underneath the hive. I was relieved to be told that the bees usually deal with it themselves.

I went for 2 x second hand wood langstroth. Made sure I fully blow torched it before putting bees in it though. Didn't get my bees until late but the girls are working well.
