    Queen in super

Hello Im fairly new to Bee Keeping. The Queen has managed to get into the super. How do I know - I have been carrying out inspections of the brood chamber and noticed lots of brood at all stages. I never thought to to check the supers. I had a super from this hive the end of last year which...

Low numbers in hive - to feed?

Is that something my local association can help with? It was Apiguard last autumn. As for the loading Im new to this so do struggle to look. Do I look in the brood with a magnifying glass?

Low numbers in hive - to feed?

I have a hive which only just survived the winter. The numbers were very low. I feared it wouldn't survive. I had fed last year but they didn't take it down at all. It was pre-mix from a well known supplier. However I put a super from last year back on and let them take the honey down. They...

    Queenless and Starving?

Hi You may remember my old thread. 2 hives. 1 has brood other one empty, no eggs or larvae. I took a frame of brood from good hive and put into Queenless hive. Went today and found the frames like in the picture. Very few bees (2 frames in all) and hardly any stores. I have ordered a...

    Queenless

Hi I have 2 hives. One has several frames of brood, one has none. There is no brood, no eggs etc. I suspect there is no queen. I have placed one frame of brood from the one hive into the other. Save for getting an additional Queen (not sure where I can this late in season) - is there...

    First inspection - honey block?

That happened to me and I had 2 swarms last year. I find this difficult as well. I had a look at the hive today to see stores, took off crownboard but couldnt see much as bees and gum everywhere! I am stuck on feeding / using stores too. Nick

    Feeding

Thank you. I have a national hive and the frames are quite tight together. I think 11 frames. Do you think I would still be able to see?

    Feeding

Hi I have had fondant on the past 2 months because of the warm weather. I have 2 hives with 14x12 brood. I have hefted the hives this morning. I can lift with one hand but I really dont know if they are too light. The fondant has all but gone - so not sure if I should still feed. They have...

    Reducing entrance

Strange one. Its cold at night but warm in the day. Should I reduce the entrance now or wait until its cold in the day and less activity as well? Cheers Nick

    Queenless?

Thanks - will do this when I get in from work later. As for them being more aggressive if queenlesss, any truth in that?

    Queenless?

So no need to worry about cross contamination? Thanks!

    Queenless?

No, which is why I am worried. Although the bees were very docile, I was led to believe if they were queen less they were angry.

    Queenless?

Hi I have a hive that swarmed earlier in the year, quite early on. Around 2 months ago I checked it for Queen cells and there were 2 with grubs in which I left. Anyway around a 3-4 weeks ago I last did an inspection and found there were grubs, so confident that the queen had emerged. Checked...
