    GasVap frustrations

I agree, I love the idea of the gasvap but I've been unable to find a basically "kitchen torch" that is robust enough to last in the back of my van! I have no regrets forking out for the sublimox as about 40% of my hives are within 50m of a power supply (2 long extension leads and a genny can be...

    Extraction Shed

Some friends of mine were offered a building that had been used to prepare cheese so was ideal once they got their equipment into it. Whithin an hour of them starting to extract a local "wild" colony had found them and there were thousands of bees coming in through different parts of the...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

If you want to set bait hives up this is the read. https://ecommons.cornell.edu/bitstream/handle/1813/2653/Bait%20Hives%20for%20Honey%20Bees.pdf?sequence=2&isAllowed=y The only thing I don't agree with is the 5m above ground! I've had swarms in bait hives from ground level to 3 m but I don't...

Thats fine but surely a BKA is all about learning. At mine we have some TF hives but we treat the majority.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I decided to clean a dead out from before Christmas because the sun was shining. I took the brood box off the floor and looking up at me forlornly was a field mouse and nest! I shooed him away and clean the floor then turn it upside down so I could stop him coming back. I replaced the box and...

    NHS - Poor Cost Control

I think I would have problems with that... I have a sedative when they go in to do ERCP's on me to remove gall stones.

    NHS - Poor Cost Control

Oooops,I was talking about a sigmoidoscopy so mine works from the rear (best place to be) and has the screen in front of him and me.

Polythism- how does it work in a hive?

    That's a different thread :)

    NHS - Poor Cost Control

Whenever I have one I decline the sedative as it allows me to drive home and you can watch the examination on the screen. The only down side is when the camera makes a swift change in direction it feels like you are just about to appear in a scene from "Alien".

    Clear cover on Maisie's nucs

I make covers from correx. It's obviously not transparent but it is stiff and doesn't lift the roof too much.
