    Hagens Bees

I too was baffled - came on here to see if anyone else had got it. Not impressed.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

My nicot rearing has been a dud so far this year as well, but still not managing grafting.. On to another method for now I think!

Does anyone know where I might get hold of a copy of Mating in Miniature by Bernard Mobus? Thanks!

What's flowering as forage in your area

Bramble on the cusp at our farm on the North Oxfordshire/ Bucks border. Well out at the home farm- this farm is on average 1.5C cooler day to day.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Fair enough- this is the first time I've had any real delayed layers. To be fair, the weather was atrocious when she would have been due to take her flights, so I'll give her that!

What did you do in the Apiary today?

A real conundrum today. 12th April, I made a split from a hive, taking queen away in 5-frame nuc. 20th April, all excess QCs destroyed, best QC left. 28th April, expected emergence. So far, no evidence of a laying queen. Test frame given last Friday- nothing. Bees are content, have filled two...

    Affordable bee suit

My AGS airmesh suit came on Monday. Not used is anger, but 2XL seems to fit me (6'4", 90kg) reasonably well- a little short in the body, but nothing major. Sleeves are voluminous, as mentioned, but I'll cope with that, as they actually reach my wrists. For less than £40, I've no complaints so far.

Requeening a very grumpy WBC colony.

That, or an aluminium ladder on blocks? Easy sliding .

    Affordable bee suit

Just bought myself one of these, as I was sick of my old jacket- all the elastic had gone, so I was having issues! What height are you, may I ask? I went 2XL, but not sure that will be tall enough..

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Made up and wired 30 brood frames, made two roofs, two crownboards, and a little shelf/stand for a kieler to sit on, attached to our front porch.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Best laid plans and all that... Q- Hive one's QC failed to emerge. United the Q+ nuc back to the hive over newspaper. Q- Hive two are acting queen right. Queen would have been due to emerge 10 days ago, and we've had a few decent days of weather, so I'm hoping she's present, and I just...

Any scouts at your swarm trap?

I'd agree with that. Mine have been flying in light drizzle/10c etc.

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Made up and gave the first undercoats to two broodboxes last night. Made up an eke for a feeder for a 5 frame nuc as well, for a swarm I've donated to my FIL.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

And another, this time called in by my pest control contact. No time to get to this one, so offered to my BKA- no takers, so onto the BBKA list, and the 6th number took it.
