    BBKA: one member one vote?

Yes, my error has already been pointed out and I cannot explain the aberration beyond an early start and a very long day after a very long week. For some reason, however many times I looked at it, it didn't compute yesterday –-must have been thinking in billions...

    BBKA: one member one vote?

I didn't say it cost £20K, I said it cost more than an insert would have done. But, that said, BBKA spent a lot of money on a site that didn't work and then they didn't use, preferring BBKA News as the primary (sole in many cases) channel of communication with its members. I know I am not...

    BBKA: one member one vote?

Quite right, oxnatbees. I teed up my county in the summer to consider potential propositions and to gather any input from members so we would have time to frame them and have them finalised by our September meeting for submission in October. Exactly so, and if anyone who has commented here...

    BBKA: one member one vote?

That's what the website is for, and that cost a lot more than the insert about the court case.

    Answer: Too much.

£20k is not 2% of £1m. Have I missed something here?

    Most, I'd have thought.

I don't doubt it, DanBee. Having read all the documentation at length, there was a great deal lacking in the original complaint. Why it wasn't dealt with immediately and in a proper fashion, we will probably never know as I never got a straight answer to that question myself. But let's not...

    BBKA: one member one vote?

I don't agree about the representation, but certainly the lack of transparency (not to mention obfuscation and downright misdirection on a couple of occasions) cannot be tolerated.

    BBKA: one member one vote?

It was an absolute disgrace, DanBee. It should never have gone as far as it did, but ineptitude and an unwillingness to deal with the matter square on in the fist place and bloody mindedness – to be fair, a bit on both sides –-resulted in a most disgraceful turn of affairs. It was embarrassing...

These are all on our agenda and have been for some years. We've also offered direct help on a number of occasions. Only, they haven't managed to get back to us on those matters, yet. :hairpull:

If there's a bottleneck, why don't you unblock it? I can tell you the executive committee is made very aware of what grass roots members think of policy when delegates represent their associations. Even if I am the only one (and I am not), they get it from me.

    BBKA: one member one vote?

While I accept the position about swarms is somewhat daft, has anyone trid to change the policy? As for your chairman, not keeping bees, I imagine that shows there is a paucity of members willing to commit a little time for the division. It's the same everywhere. But I'd be surprised if your...

Adopt a Beehive is just one matter that has been raised many times, John. But if you don't believe you're getting the full story, why not ask for a more thorough report? I'm sure there is one to be had, but it won't be printed in the newsletter as most people won't read it and would prefer the...

    BBKA: one member one vote?

How so, Beefriendly? It's what I have done the last couple of years and my predecessor before me. I'm also sure that there are plenty of others who do the same thing. So how is it not possible?

    BBKA: one member one vote?

Isn't that what people do? We gather the views of our members and these shape policy. We have even done online polls to show gather hard data about what our members actually think about BBKA policy.

    BBKA: one member one vote?

The associations voted against the £1 increase, MM. A minor distinction, but important. In recent years, the executive has painted the delegates as an unruly mob. In truth, they are there to represent the views of their association, but sadly, even associations don't agree, so this whole us and...

Very few people will engage as they're not interested in 'politics'.

    BBKA: one member one vote?

Collection is easy, but there would be very few willing to complete surveys. They don't really care as first and foremost people want BDI and perhaps the social aspect of a local group. Politics is very low down the list –-the world at large in microcosm.

    BBKA: one member one vote?

Well, the BBKA could be petitioned to have a delegate to represent all those who don't have an association.
