    First Inspection: Weak Colony

Hey Guys, I performed my first inspection yesterday. It is the first time I have ever overwintered bees. I think the colony looks quite weak, however there is a laying queen which I guess is good news. The brood box contains no bees and contains quite a lot honey. It looks like they haven't...

    Hive Inspection: No Growth

Hey Guys, I received a nuc of bees in May, they filled out the brood box very quickly. 4 weeks ago I added a super (with no queen excluder). They haven't built out any of the super frames, i'm not sure why they are not expanding. There are plenty of eggs/brood and honey in the brood box, but...

    Full Hive Advice: Swarm Worries

Hey Guys, I received my first nuc in May, and have been enjoying my first summer as a beekeeper. However, during recent inspections the brood box is absolutely packed with bees/brood/honey, there doesn't look like there is any room for any more expansion. Because of this i'm worried the hive...

Hey Guys, I'm a very new beekeeper and have had a hive around 4 days since getting a Nuc delivered on Saturday. I have a feeder in a super above the hive with a 1 to 1 sugar water solution inside. I also had a queen excluder below the feeder & crown board. I noticed that no bees were...
