What did you do in the Apiary today?

Had a look in the supers of 10 of mine today, they're really hammering the balsam now and there is some fresh nectar going into the supers but it's a slow process, I can only presume it's all going into the brood boxes so hopefully when they're full better progress will be made on the supers...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

They have moved it back down through the excluders and surrounded the brood nest. I'm leaving the supers on hoping for a miracle on the balsam.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

It's both! Bees have moved most of the honey from the supers into the brood area had to feed all nucs as they're in danger of starving.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Inspected 12 of mine today planning to remove the summer crop and get treatment started. At the end of June there was 300lbs of honey in the supers of the 12 colonies, today there was 80lbs and nothing worth removing for extraction. I knew things wouldn't be great but didn't expect it to be this...

    Summer harvest?

Can't make up my mind about calling it a day and removing the supers. Balsam is in flower now and bees working it,but had a look in the supers and there's nothing being added, they're the same weigh if not a touch lighter than they were in late June. Colonies are very strong and whenever the...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Had a look in some supers today fearing the worst after 3 weeks of really bad weather. Pleasantly surprised to find most have added a little weight (but not much) Was fearing all my summer crop was going to be consumed but there's a decent amount on most. The balsam is starting to yeild now and...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Popped the lids on some of mine today, bees look in great shape with lots of bees in the supers but unfortunately no honey, if the weather could just sort itself out there would be a great flow on but there's absolutely no sign of an improvement,in fact it's looks like getting even worse if...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

No full inspections as it's too wet and windy but had a peep in the supers. Colonies really strong and primed for honey production but with the terrible weather only very small gains being made. If the weather could sort itself out there will be a fantastic flow on!

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I know it's not good practice but these colonies have room and with it being late in the swarm season I'm hoping they'll lose interest.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Weather not great and bees a bit grumpy but took the chance to grab 5 full supers for extraction, the plus side of the bad weather is all the honey is now ripe. One or 2 still thinking about swarming but no kit to make splits so cells destroyed and fingers crossed.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Got a call from the farmer " there's millions of bees everywhere" one had swarmed (it's already swarmed once in April),i have no kit and knew it was rammed so tried the head in the sand approach and hoped they would stay put. When I got there the swarm was back on the front of the hive and the...
