    Bati Press

I have just watched this video and was wondering has used it for pressing heather?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Heather honey is a bonus crop for me, there's heather on the mountain behind me. I managed to press 50lb of it, I sold it all in one hour. Next year I'll be moving them to a more prolific area.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Not so much the Apiary but the honey room! My Heather labels arrived over the weekend so I've been busy applying them to my jars of heather honey. Just hope it sells now.

How many jars of honey in a year?

Last year was another bumper year for me, it equalled 2019 that's for sure.

    Yes strap right angles!

    Moving hives

Picked up hives once from a beekeeper giving up (70 miles way), with OMF they will be fine this time of year (little or no brood). I would block the entrances, strap them both ways to prevent any movement. They will be fine just make sure they are not all tucked up tight together and put them up...

    Brood box empty

Put the Brood Box above the super, as soon as the bees move up into the BB, place a QE under it, making sure the queen is up in the BB. As soon as all the brood emerges (if any) in the wild comb, remove it and cut it all out, give it back to the bees in a feeder to remove the honey.

    Labelling jars

I design labels to be machine applied and I recommend a 'labelroo' www.labelroo.com - very effective machine plenty of adjustment to get the labels spot on.

    Creaming Machine

Thank you for your reply, as for the warming cabinet, I find my best result are when I set it to 42C for 24 hours.

    Creaming Machine

I have finally bit the bullet and bought a honey creamer (Konigin), I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on temperature setting and the ratio of seed honey to runny honey. Its a 50kg heater one.

    nicot cell cups

Just graft, its not that difficult and you choose when you want to do it, give it a go. My tip is when you buy the Chinese Grafting tools, thin them down to make them more flexible.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Not in the Apiary but just moved a pallet of jars and lids into my garage! All 38 boxes all neatly stacked and ready for the summer! Big thanks to Anna at Bottle Company South.

    Honey Labelling.

Thanks for the heads up! I have seen so so many terrible labels a customer told me the labels sells the honey, the contents gets them to return, this I agree with.

    Makita Brad Nailer

I have been using a Bostitch SB-1850BN 18 Gauge Nail Gun for years, I've nailed 1000's of frames, yes its an air nailer but a compressor is fairly cheap, very reliable, in 30 years I have only ever replace the plastic foot on it.
