    The sale items were actually on the site on Christmas eve. Prices of polyhives same as in October sale. Thought I would hold off to see if there were cheaper in Christmas sale but no luck. Still needed some nucs so ordered them anyway.

    If its a pains poly you can use an eke on the hive floor and them the super to get around the notches on the floor. Another simple idea from somebody (ITMA I think) on the forum.

    There was a nice idea on a recent thread to deal with the situation where the bees are lower down in double brood hive. Use a tube attached to the syringe. Could do the same here so that the hive does not need to be disturbed by removing the super.

    The main thing that makes me hesitate is the unknown of what the queens will mate with as I live in a semi urban setting with goodness knows how many hives with mating area. Will I end up breeding monsters?
