Although new to beekeeping myself I am being mentored by a relative experienced in beekeeping for many years, who had a reasonable sized apiary/out apiarys 10-15 years ago but had to give things up due to family commitments. We have been hesitant to join our local associations as we are cynical...

Thats ok then if it is DPD as we can get it re-delivered. I think royal mail might be used for small stuff but I ordered a couple of hives worth of stuff so I'll probably get the courier. Thanks for the information.

I noticed a few small mites (not red) today on the inspection board under the floor. They were much smaller than varroa and only one part of the board. Here is a photo - hope it works, it was only the cameraphone so focus isnt great but the offending bugs are highlighted with red arrows...
