Anyone recommend a good app?

I know this has been discussed in the past, but in more recent times what bee keeping app is “the best”? I’m hoping to find something that can share info/data with my two daughters who help me from time to time. Might have to each buy the app and use a common login.

Agree. And it would be interesting (see what Beebe said above) to know how a landing board assists or ******* things like robber bees and wasps.

I built a landing board for my hive that didn’t have one, it was quite windy today but the bees were pretty active. Usually in wind this hive becomes inactive. Before I attached the board (yesterday) I noticed that when it became crowded many bees dropped to the grass while trying to get in. It...

Except that on a windy day my hive without landing board reduces activity significantly, and if the wind is strong and gust enough they stop flying out altogether. Maybe different bees, or maybe they find it too difficult to land.

I have two hives next to each other, one with landing board and one without. On a calm day it makes no difference - they're both busy. On a windy day the one with landing board carries on regardless. The hive without slows down dramatically. If it's a strong wind they virtually stop. Of course...

It's a flow hive, so Langstroth brood frames. It has a good solid floor, I'm not sure where the mesh is meant to be. It didn't come with a solid crown - I'll probably make one

Yes, the hive comes with a mesh crown so bees can't get there unless through the holes (which quite a few did, I brushed them out).

This hive was a gift from my family for Fathers Day, I managed to catch a swarm into it yesterday. I've read elsewhere about closing ventilation holes unless it's really hot. So would you close these holes?

They took a while to build this (perhaps as the temperatures dropped just as I moved them). It's been warmer recently and they seem to be making good progress. A very small swarm I think, for the first few days they bunched up into a blob the size of a big coffee mug. Should I even bother...

We had this happen to our barn yesterday. It happens every year and we thought the plastic may dissuade them this year.

A question for the boffins.... when will swarming end this year? It's been a crazy year, seems like we're 4-5 weeks behind "normal" schedule. I'm wondering how long I diligently sprinkle lemongrass on my bait boxes.
