I have a SumUp card machine that I use on the rare occasions I have stalls at a fayre/market. It has the facility to generate a QR that I print and show on my sales board with instructions.
Although SumUp charges 1.7% when the machine is used as a card reader, using the system with a QR code is...
No a little road on the outskirts of a village. We do have several footpaths that converge in the area which helps to sell to walkers but the main sales come from locals who consistently return to pick up 2 or 3 jars at a time. Those locals talk to their friends and I now have customers who...
I sell via an honestly system from shelves on the front of my house, payment via cash through the letterbox or via a QR code.
Last year I sold about 800 jars this way and it looks like I’ll be just shy of the 1000 jars unless I get a Xmas rush.
It is a great way to sell with very little effort.
I put an advert in my local village mag for a year asking if anyone in the locality had a piece of scrub or woodland they wanted to sell. I had numerous people offering me land to rent but no one was offering to sell anything!
Saying that, a 5 acre piece of woodland about 200yrs from my front...
It looks like you have been a bit enthusiastic in finding outlets before you have enough honey Paul.
It’s a balancing act to ensure you always have enough to keep everyone happy.
I’m now building up a reserve to keep me going if I have a dodgy year but then storage becomes an issue….
I agree, he is the guy that used to supply honey to RHS Wisley for their gift shop but the honey looked c**p, it was badly crystalised and not attractive at all. Probably the shop’s fault as I would guess some had been in the shop for years.
I should say that the owners of the property are out of the country at present so I can’t actually get permission even if I wanted to do anything.
Their neighbours, who alerted me to their existence, say they are not the easiest people to deal with.
The beech tree is in a muddy field on a bit of a slope so even if I was willing to fork out for a cherry picked I probably couldn’t get it in there.
On reflection I think I’ll see how the get on over winter and if they survive see if they send out any swarms as they will be a tough lot if they...
I got a call this morning to go and look at a nest high in a beech tree. It’s 25’+ up so unlikely to be able to cut it down without breaking my neck but if I could find a ladder tall enough I was considering wrapping it in a big plastic bag.
Any thoughts?
The screen just didn’t light up when I plugged a full battery in. (I tried 4 batteries) The same thing happened about 9 months ago when it went back for repair so I’m thinking it’s a dodgy machine.
I keep mine warm in an insulated box between apiaries as I’ve shown before.
I have seen a few wasps through the clear crown boards in strong colonies in the last couple of weeks. They seem to sneak around the side of the cluster and get into the fondant containers,
When I put the battery in, the screen doesn’t light up. It’s completely dead!
I’ve asked for a replacement under warranty as I can’t have it crashing in the middle of a series of vapes!
