Vandalism at Northumberland Honey mating apiary

I'm not the only one that read your statement and came to the same conclusion. Just maybe its the way you write if indeed there was no malice inferred. Do you know the status of the weather at the mating apiary on the day of the event and can see any 'anti-wind' protection in the grass?

Price of honey jars - up , up , up

I suppose its about perspective. Glass making is hardly an environmentally friendly operation even in countries that try to reduce its impact. I highly doubt that Chinese manufacturers put sustainability at the top of their list of activities. Then there is the additional impact of shipping...

Vandalism at Northumberland Honey mating apiary

sounds like you are suggesting that commercial beekeepers get what they disserve for running a successful business or can you clarify your statement?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Lit the log fire at the beginning of June, a first for me. Been getting warmer since then, but without much in the way of prolonged sunshine

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Another accident consequence of history. All set up as individual groups after the English FA. Welsh, Scottish and NI FAs want to keep independence even though we are all part of the UK and NI. This is why there is no GB football squad for the Olympics (as organized by IOC), as they fear UEFA...

Balsam has been flowering for some time, but first time I've seen stripy bees during inspections

    Thornes easy steam connector

it works fine as it is, I just thought it would be better with some insulation. With this its finished melting wax in about half the time compared to without. All I've done is to wrap a couple of the panels below around the tank and keep them in place with some bungies...

    Thornes easy steam connector

I gave up on the easi-steam a few years ago. I got one of these second hand, but something similar could be knocked up from a metal drum. To increase efficiency I have insulated the drum with hot water tank jacketing. Quicker and far more steam comes out of the outlet now as opposed to...

    British Black Bee Info

surely this is a regular occurrence where a new forum member believes they keep bees in a fashion that is the only proper way to do so and is inflammatory with regards to this. Everyone else is in the wrong. When this is pointed out, and that are many ways to successfully keep bees in a...

    Keeping Warre's commercially

The Australian Warre guy makes some frankly extraordinary claims about the honey. However, as he sells his produce for over 20 pounds a pound, he's successfully found a profitable niche market. good luck to him! My back started to twitch just looking at all those boxes to shift for honey...

    Keeping bees in the garden

Nothing you have said with your review has changed my thoughts on suburban garden beekeeping. suggesting giving it out to naïve new beekeepers only contributes to my position. On the proceeding page to the review, in the current Beecraft, there is a comment piece entitled 'Is the world falling...

    Ticks

Maybe I should. removed another b@#$#%d tick last night! I can only think that because it been hot, I've been wearing a ventilated mesh suit and that they are small enough to get through, or at least get caught in the mesh. I've got some jungle formula to hand so will try this out before next...

    Ticks

I suspect its the deer population as I do see they regularly around my apiaries, much more so locally than in the 70s and 80s. One advantage is the availability of venison if you know who to speak to ;)
