New Member with worry about dead bees outside hive and being brought out of the hive!!!!!

You basically purchased a very expensive pack of lollypop sticks. Never mind.

    Time to be ridiculed again

I use my fondant to prop open the garage door on warm days. I will pop in on later this autumn after feeding syrup.

    Compressing large hive for winter

I don‘t think I’ll get any honey this year, I’m going to leave the x1 super on both my 14x12 hives for another 2 weeks, then remove and extract what there is. Same day start feeding with strong syrup and add in my Appivar strips to both hives. I was thinking of just letting the Bee’s have the...

A few questions from a would be beekeeper.

The only time I can't give straight or even audible answer is when my other half asks how much have I spent on setting up the Bee's... mumble, hum, ramble... normally end up with a vague answer like "ooh quite a bit"

Help with gaps in polystyrene hive

You could always put the frames in a cedar hive box that will last 20 / 30 years and not be left in landfill for 300 years like your poly hive. Most people are stopping the use of plastics, however most beekeepers are switching from wood to plastic.... thanks to some clever marketing.

    Hairy willow herb nectar?

My Bee’s are taking something very different over the past week or so, for the first time that I’ve noticed about 30% of the bee’s flying into the hive have the tops of their heads absolutely covered in white dust / pollen. Not in baskets on their legs just their heads… but its the first time...

    Data leak

Absolutely no idea, just relaying what pretty much every IT company told me, plus the one we contracted with to sort the mess out.

    Data leak

I believe the general advice on this has changed. The random letters and numbers are not necessarily that secure as you'd think. My company email was hacked in Feb and it caused us loads of work and hassle. You have to remember that the hackers need to start with a known email address, even one...

Is it time to put the brakes on the boom in beekeeping?

I think uk intensive farming has had a huge impact on biodiversity in the countryside. My Parents live in a remote area and have a good amount of house martins and swifts, buzzards, but very little else. I'm in a semi rural village location, less than 5 miles from a city. I have bats, owls...

    Early Evening Inspections

I wasn’t going to inspect them this week, but decided to this morning and glad I did, removed a queen cup and a queen cup with royal jelly inside, and that’s in my 3 week old nuc that I put in a 14x12. Everyone I spoke to said they would not try and swarm this year… but the bees decided...

    Reluctance to draw comb ?

I'm newer to this game than you, I've had my Nuc for just over 3 weeks, in that time frame I've fed them 1:1 syrup as much as they will take to get them to draw the comb. As of Tuesday night they had drawn fully the 5 frames of 14 x 12 that were just foundation 3 weeks ago. On Tuesday I stopped...

How late do your bees fly?

I've noticed on my 2 that one hive tends to go to bed earlier than the other, which stays active until around 22:00. The early nighters are up and about earlier than the night owls by about a hour and a half.

What is this on the frame?

This is my 3rd inspection. I’ve found some comb that looks unlike anything I’ve been before. I can’t see anything like it in the books I have, It looks like loads of queen cups drawn together? iCloud link to video
