In a typical bee yard,...how often should you find a mean hive? And...

This is what I very reluctantly used. (Fastest acting im told) Within seconds bees were dropping in the thousands.... Very very sad.... Please be warned, nasty stuff this is! This decision to destroy was not an easy one to make, two other beekeepers had been consulted with both of them...

In a typical bee yard,...how often should you find a mean hive? And...

I have had to destroy two wild colonies before. (Both in the same building) Absolutely mental they were.... Killed 2 dogs and serious stings to many farm workers and cattle... Tried to trap out first but had to change tactics after no more than 10 minutes... Very sad... The first and only two in...

If I did not know better, I would say without a doubt that THAT queen comes from one of my "Dark" colonies... All have a bit of a short fuse.... Cant believe how similar they look.... wow!

    Sugar syrup

We have a lot of waste delivered to several of our farming units.. One in particular is our Bioplant and truck wash bay.... Even though efforts are made to process this kind of waste as fast as possible, bees just find a way to access it... Its like the truck wash bay, first light and bees are...

    Sugar syrup

I will have to remove supers soon on a couple of colonies that feed a LOT on chocolate waste.... I will take a few pics and post. I actually have a few that have had access to golden syrup and later corn syrup... should produce a bit of a contrast.... Will start a new thread - descriptive name...

    Hobbies?

Sometimes its the only or best way to manage a fishery ... For me this rings true.... Remove overstocked smaller fish and return the larger adults... I see it as my responsibility to manage and ensure our the health of our dams.. Much the same as certain Game species,,, insufficient predators...

    Bee vac

I also use the blue pool hose as well (kreepy crawly pipe) and have hardly any deaths or damaged bees.... This is used for HUGE wild colonies as well as swarms hanging in balls.. Reduce suction on vac as well as reduce the nozzle sucking end. (So the only strong suction is at the front end) I...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

If thats the case, the old ancestors here must have been smoking weed as these lines must cross over everywhere here.... Playing snakes and ladders maybe..... ???? Or perhaps dived a bit deep into the old bottle of Hooch.....

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Hot as hell here.... Caught another two swarms at home today..... on top of old office and under the old oak tree.... Same places always produce.... I think it's because of the constant food supply here,,, old comb being worked / cleaned, robbed out boxes, feeding trials, etc etc etc...
