    How to identify laying workers

Hopefully pics below will help some of the newer B-keeps identify this potential problem. Perhaps not the best pics but in my opinion show the signs of what to look for.... The below frames have "salvaged Comb" in from old cut-outs. These were used in a box to house a forced abscond... (Using...

How to convert wax block to usable foundation

For us using Langstroth brood boxes as supers we are always moving the tougher brood frames up into supers anyway... Large drone comb? let it age a bit and move up into supers... No Queen excluder used either,,, so really a fast and painless job of frame rotation... Let the bees get on with...

How to convert wax block to usable foundation

Thank you for sharing this..... Very helpful and I am most certainly going to do this.... If the bees make more drone cells, so be it! I have already learnt that the bees know far more than I do... Leave them to do what they do.... (y)

    Dealing with laying worker colonies

Thanks Mr Palmer. As I said in an earlier post - I slipped up here, I didnt pay close enough attention to a couple of very difficult forced trapouts.... I should have known better.... Not certain about other folks but I always have a soft spot for these problematic trapouts, especially when they...

Not everything is always plain and simple Mr JBM - Especially with regards to Poo ! What about Odour & prevailing winds? Would / could this not have an impact?

    Bees on windfarms ?

Point taken - I would also be concerned with shudder from imbalance or bearings etc.... However.... As a keen fisherman, I have often held a rod up when wind is blowing.... just from the resistance you can feel the the light shudder, and this is only from a small thin spinning rod... Imagine...

    Bees on windfarms ?

In an effort to hijack this post and nudge it back to the original question - Here is my opinion... I believe it has more to do with ground vibration than anything else..... If I have a traktor close to hives throwing fertiliser - No issues. Just add other implements that cause more "ground...
