    Cleaning bee suit

Talking to Sherriff it is the hoops that become brittle over time when used in the washing machine hence recommending hand wash. Sure i know Seasonal bee inspectors who just wrap it inside as they wash their suits after every apiary inspection. Personally i do now take mine off, but i also...

    Oxalic acid

No, but as you are more likely to have missed the broodless period as a suggestion, and what i do and LASI does is do two treatments 5 - 10 days apart. That way although some 30% of the varroa will be in sealed brood, by two two treatments you should still get up to around a 95% kill effect...

    Cleaning and Sterilizing Brood Frames

You should never mix bleach with other cleaning products. You could end up producing poisonous chlorine gas. https://experthometips.com/soda-crystals#:~:text=What%20happens%20if%20you%20mix,up%20producing%20poisonous%20chlorine%20gas.

    Cleaning and Sterilizing Brood Frames

do not mix soda and bleach, an SBI told me it turns to some nice gas and all the good chemical (bad stuff that does cleaning) goes up in the gas. You must first do Soda and then bleach. Personally i boil frames in soda crystal water, but please do not mix in bleach.

Poll: Should it be legal to use the word "Raw" on labels to describe unheated, non-pressure filtered honey

Now maybe I am getting picky here but the law also states that if you add anything to honey it can not longer be called honey. We see a lot of Honey sold with Royal Jelly, pollen, or other other things added even nuts. By law once you add anything it can not longer be called honey, very clear...

not dissagreeing on that just advising what the Trading Standards/Law current interpretation is.

Laurence Edwards' petition to allow the use of the word "Raw" to describe unheated, non-pressure filtered honey.

I have had long conversations with Trading Standards on this. Raw is not allowed as the only definition that can be applied is he opposite of cooked and that is found in the Defra guidelines. As honey is never cooked it cannot be Raw. However, when I highlighted someone using it (major...

    Increased Varroa Mite

Agreed, but a Winter treatment now means the spring bees can really get going much better and puts you in a great position for good spring colonies so both are equally important no point have bees come through winter all weak in the spring.

wax straining materials as fire starters....

tried stone and boiling water with about 20 cloths got so little wax back not worth the effort. I use cut up old bedsheets and then just use them as fire lighters in my wood stove, no wax left burn beautifully.

    Warming cabinet heater.

Major issues with these, i fitted one, then two then three. Fine for honey warming but will not get above 50 degrees as although they say no thermostat they have an inbuilt one. This means you cannot get it up to 70 degrees - not for honey but i used the same cabinet to melt and clean wax very...

    Oxalic Acid Vaporizer

Nice chart, but note that in Sourthern England the broodless period is Mid December as research by LASI as proven: The full research on broodless periods can be downloaded here in the published work, chapter 8: Towards integrated control of varroa: effect of variation in hygienic behaviour among...

I have two warming bars in their but after talking to a manufacturer although they advertise them as without a thermostat they have an inbuilt thermostat. This means no matter how...

I made some of these early on, now moved to canadian i.e. the circle as these can be pinned on existing general use crown boards saves having seperate clearing boards.
