Treating with apiguard so had to remove the supers, incredible amount of honey in the brood could be because they are on double. Have weighed them and given a little feed to one will keep a close eye until the ivy flow

It's the cast swarm we've recently put into a hive, don't think they like their new home!!! Found the marked queen amongst the bees so put her on a clip and back in the hive in the clip until I decide what action to take, any ideas?

    Which brush?

Bought four brushes to use when extracting to brush off the bees, the hairs fall out by the dozen, im not sure if it's because they are cheap or just badly made. When I wash them they get worse. Any makes you recommend?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Had a peek inside the hives but nothing untoward. Reduced a hive down to one brood from two as they've been messing about with raising a queen for a few months so the colony has depleted. Removed a few dry supers. Gave a feed to the nuc. Should have some more honey. Going to remove all supers on...

Don't know what happened today, mass of bees in the air, thought god they are swarming, settled after a while on the front of a nuc box which has a cast swarm inside with their own queen. A lot of bees then appeared under two of the hives, after the cloud of bees settled, they all seemed to have...

  17. Nannysbees

    Where are the wasps?

Quite a few wasps flying around the hives attacking bees that are on the ground, could be drips of honey from removing the supers that has attracted them!!!

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Full inspection yesterday. All looking really good. One of the colonies on a double brood and two supers absolutely packed, I don't think we've had a colony so big. The hive which we left to their own devices after killing a bought queen which we put a test frame in and they raised quite a few...
