What did you do in the Apiary today?

    Oh noooo!

    Paradise or abelo poly national.

Maybe you should do the same, after whittering on about putting a QX directly below a crownboard then not using a crown board at all (madness) then all the dross in between - no wonder we're confused. Ahhhhh.....no longer a 'super-moderator?' Abelo are different.....I am still assessing them...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I had a quiet time painting hives today.....until my partner phoned. She had picked up a message that there was a swarm near the entrance to my allotment. We searched everywhere......found nothing. On the way out of the car park, as I closed the gate, there they were. NOT the allotment...

    Paradise or abelo poly national.

I noticed.....I thought about cutting them, but it's not that much of a problem I think. If it is.....I will!

    Paradise or abelo poly national.

No one seems to read anything on here in detail! WITH a C-B.......NO problem. WITHOUT a C-B BIG problem......in regard to a poly hive. I suggest 'contributors' to the posts I have made go back to what I originally said? It is in regard to having no supers on or having supers on and where to...

    Paradise or abelo poly national.

I began using my Paradise hives without a crown-board and they built comb into the roof very quickly. Even with supers added it tended to happen. I made specific c-b's for them to prevent the mayhem and stress it caused to both me and the bees! I just assume that the same thing would happen...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

It's looking good just South of you. The Lime trees will be flowering in a few weeks. I have drawn frames but maybe not enough! Thanks for the youtube 'No nonsense' video. The irony was that I may have been one of two days early. I released the queen, who had laid over the whole area of the...

    Paradise or abelo poly national.

Hi Linsay! Today I took a quick look at the bees I housed in the first Abelo. They seemed pretty happy. Problems I have had with my Paradise hives: Bees getting crushed between the underside of frame lugs and the plastic, almost flat rails. Abelo rails have a deeper space to prevent that...

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Awww.....thank you. I do this in the hope that if any get stolen I may stand a chance of getting them back! :ROFLMAO:

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I got a message a week ago saying EFB was in my area. I did a full inspection, found nothing and all looked good. I reported it back, but have been told they will visit anyway at some point :cautious:

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I'm off to remove the queen from the Nicot box. I hope I have timed it right. She was put in there on Sunday, so it should be spot on. Who can tell though? The instructions printed by Simon the BK talks about the preciseness of the timing, but then fluffs around by saying that times may be...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Photos of my mystery 'swarm' from last week. They refused to go into the upside down nuc-box and stayed like that for a week. They behaved more swarm like when I moved them into another nuc! The mystery may have been solved as a friend, that keeps a hive on my apiary, messaged me to say that...

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

I've been painting my new Abelo hives. One undercoat, one top coat and camouflage spray to finish! I'm about half way though. The first finished one has just housed one of my nucs at my allotment apiary.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

A window in the weather this morning! Shot off to my allotment apiary to move one overcrowded nuc into a proper hive, then catch my nominated queen for queen rearing and put her in the Nicot box. I also checked on the possible carnage I may have caused to a queenless hive, by moving a frame of...

Now wonder I couldn't buy twenty BS nucs in April!

What did you do in the Apiary today?

No chance of visiting apiaries today. It's been pouring down! I've been under the awning that I set up in the garden, painting my new Abelo hives. There's a lot of them to do  I think I've just been thrown out of the BBKA. Is that a good thing? I forgot to renew my membership...
