Home made api melter or alternatives.

The Swienty Apimelters are hard to beat or the mini melters that work similar, Logar do mini melter like the Swienty/Fritz one that's insulated. The price point of the mini melters is quite a bit cheaper but they don't do quite the same job but never the less good bits of kit...

    Paradise or abelo poly national.

I think the Paradise kit is generally overlooked in the UK, probably back from when it was first available here. There was so much resistance to "THE LIP", but this is now seen as a plus to prevent water ingress and provided stability. My hives are standing the test of time so far at 12 years...

You are correct the product can go direct to the end user but you cannot distribute the product to others for them to retail.

    Bee-equipment

If I can I will add something to this from a smaller supplier “Modern Beekeeping”. We have tried to get products like MAQS but have been totally unable to get anything positive from the manufacturers who suggest we buy from a distributor. However some distributors keep such a large margin that...

    Electric Extractor advice please

Have you considered the Logar extractors from Modern Beekeeping. We have been really impressed by ours, we were sold by the fact that the bottom is one solid piece and completely sloped.

I used several ton of pre bought syrup each year plus fondant and pollen substitute.

    Pollen sub

It all depends on the pollen substitute, products that containing natural pollen aren't by default a complete feed. Not all pollen is created equal and many floral sources are required to get the correct balance. When the pollen trapping took place was the diet complete? I think perhaps not...

    Honey Pump

We use a honey pump to get it from the sump to the settling tank. it's amazing how much time it has saved us extracting honey not messing about with buckets under the extractor outlet. the dedicated pumps are a neoprene flexible impeller and work very well, plus most have a speed control on...

Another consideration is Logar extractors, there pretty well made bits of kit.

    Plastic foundation experiment

I haven't had any problems with buckling for a long time, this used to happen with the pierco frames but not with anything I have at the moment.

    Plastic foundation experiment

We have several 1000 frames of plastic foundation or completely plastic frames, generally I cant really complain about them at all. The plus side to the argument is how quickly I can assemble or wax them, on the last round we were looking at around 800 frames per day finished and ready for the...
