    Greek Honey Project

Are you aware of this bunch: Bees and Refugees Whilst "...supporting refugees interested in beekeeping " may be a worthwhile aim, I am less convinced about "increasing the bee population in Hammersmith and Fulham, "

    Greek Honey Project

I fear you may find that it may not be worth your while importing honey into the UK unless you are doing it in significant volume. From 1st July 2022 the barriers will be formidable, including possible veterinary certification and Border Control Post checks. See the attached. JBM, who is one...

Nitrile gloves - supply and demand

There are nitrile gloves and then there are nitrile gloves. I would not care to use the flimsy, thin, cheap ones when inspecting colonies These are a bit thicker, more robust, longer sleeved and for me are better for the job...

    Which budget wood hive

I use a mixture of ~7% beeswax in raw (not 'boiled') linseed oil on my seconds cedar hives. It has the added advantage to helping retain the original cedar colouring, although I acknowledge that there are some who prefer to see the greying of the cedar with age.

    Which budget wood hive

It could well be safe, who knows? As they do not say what is in it, let alone that it is safe to use for bees, it is not possible to say. One always has to bear in mind that generally, wood preservative prevents infestation by insects, if it works, by killing them. If, as has been suggested...

    Which budget wood hive

I am a great fan of STB and will be putting in another significant order, once the stuff I want is back in stock. But: there is only £1.70 difference the price of his fir BB and Maisie's sale cedar seconds BB.: https://www.simonthebeekeeper.co.uk/hives-frames/10903-bs-national-fir-brood.html...

    Oxalic acid vaping...is it "non-treatment".

Ah, the cry of so many beekeepers over so many years. A matchstick for your thoughts.

    Oxalic acid vaping...is it "non-treatment".

I therefore presume you, as a law abiding beekeeper, to have notified the presence of Varroa mites in your hives to the Secretary of State as you ar legally obliged to under the The Bee Diseases and Pests Control (England) (Amendment) Order 2021 that came into force on 21st April this year. Not...

    Oxalic acid vaping...is it "non-treatment".

Very possibly, but as far as I know none for anything to do with treating bees. Do you have any evidence to support your assertion?
