    Skeps Appeal™

I'm sure I watched a video on the eco floor that referenced Paul Stamets' work and how that might impact the health of the bee population. I don't think it was a video of Philip's but it might have been. I'll have to see if I can find it. Which will mean trawling through the hundreds of bee...

    Skeps Appeal™

Oh yes, it's certainly not going to be solo for very long. it took me a while to figure out the components. Now I know what I'm doing (sort of but not really) I can get the others up and going a lot quicker. I also found a skep base for sale online and I've ordered it to see if it's a better fit...

    Skeps Appeal™

;) Starting a new thread here to chart my skep journey. Booked to attend Chris Park's Skep Beekeeping course run through Bees for Development on 30th July: https://www.beesfordevelopment.org/bee-involved/courses/ I have already purchased a skep from a skep maker on etsy rather than these...

    New renegade beekeeper Stirlingshire

Yes, please! I said to Pargyle in our message that once I've completed Chris Park's skep course I will be more than happy to share how it went - a review, if you will. That's not until July so we've plenty of time :D

    New renegade beekeeper Stirlingshire

If you go back to the first few pages of the thread, you'll understand very clearly why I'm reticent to share here. I'm not here to be helpful? And further, I don't see how I could be given that I'm the new person in a forum FULL of experts. I disagreed with the notion that early beekeepers...

OK Mabee said olden day beekeepers would have little knowledge of bee behaviour. I'm just disagreeing because that sounds very unlikely to me. I'm not debating with you. I just disagree. But I guess it depends on how far back we're going... God, it's exhausting here sometimes!

Well, quite! Therein lies the predicament. So I have noticed and yet...you claimed I was the one creating conflict 🤔😊 I doubt you will learn anything about beekeeping from me, pargyle. But hey, never say never! 😂

    New renegade beekeeper Stirlingshire

WOW, are you serious? Am I here to create 17 pages of conflict... really? I'm flabbergasted at that. I don't think that's what I've done at all. If anything I'd say that you asking me to try and explain my reasoning is an invitation for yet more conflict? And there are comments that were on...

Respectfully disagree. I’d love to go into my own reasons but I don’t have a death wish 😂

I’d ask Chris Park 😊 Horses for courses, I guess. I’m drawn to it for different reasons but it’s like asking why anyone is interested in anything? They are certainly smaller than conventional hives, that’s very true.

Thank you! Yes, I'm booked on to his skep bee keeping course in July and I'm banking on him bringing some :D

I think it looks good. Nothing wrong with innovation. Good luck to them!

If it's won prizes I'd gladly buy some! I heard Chris Park say 'a year and a day' for a good full mead. Haha, you weren't wrong. It is rather phallic. I wasn't sold much until I scrolled down and saw the inside. It does look rather nifty on the inside. Interesting.

Trying to visualise that right now....

Out of curiosity, why do you think they refuse to register them?

    New renegade beekeeper Stirlingshire

I'd much rather buy it than make it :D I like your principles. I really am very, very unlikely to make anything out of anything. I'm not very good at those sorts of things... :)

Might have a stab at making my own following this https://gallowaywildfoods.com/how-to-make-mead-easily-using-wild-plants/

You can always rely on me to be controversial ;) Yes, that would probably be my first choice. I've watched a few of Phil Chandler's videos. I like how he amends the design. There was also another hive that I like the look of but it's still in development. (BeeScientific) Where are you buying...
