    Wasps nibbling polyhive

I had similar with one of my mentees, he hadn't painted the Paynes polynuc side feeder and wasps were just starting to burrow. He used aluminium tape around the feeder because he was going away for a week, it certainly resolved the problem.

It looks like the Rabia Syed account has been deleted. Links to a company in Manchester.

    Small-scale beekeeping & economic feasibility

Start a co-operative for beekeepers, where you have facilities for extracting, jarring and selling. There are additional bits to think about as add ons. How many hives per beekeeper is your target audience?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Yesterday and today, I had a short notice request to move my apiary from one site to a new site 0.4 miles away. The result moved half yesterday and the rest today. Half released at the new site yesterday late evening and the other half closed in until moved to the new site today. The old site...

An expensive lesson here in Italy

OK it's a rapid feeder, if it had been a contact feeder then there was the possibility of it leaking. I agree with @pargyle

What kind of feeder are you using?

    Education required

Without a picture, it is most probably drone larva. It is the time of year for drone eviction. Nothing to worry about unless the wasps are entering the hive. How heavy are your hives?

    Zero Harvest Returns

I've gone double 14x12s but a 14x12 demaree is quite a lot to manage. But achievable if you do it by degrees. During manipulations have 2 nuc boxes and a step ladder to hand. Move the frames into the nuc boxes and move the brood box. Now go and sell it to your bee buddy.

    Feral bees and bait hives

I'm relating an incident at the Welsh Convention with regard to the NBU and their refusal to entertain support for treatment free.

    Feral bees and bait hives

I remember those days, collecting swarms without instruction or mentor from my association and started before you, 1981 to be precise. However you are missing one point and going back to my point we still had the same viruses and notifiable diseases. Varroa are now a vector for said viruses, not...

    Feral bees and bait hives

We don't want people to get the wrong impression or implication that there weren't treatment free beekeepers pre varroa. I find it quite amusing that the only treatment free beekeepers have to be the here and now. Otherwise there will be a false idea that everyone treated their bees to the...

    Feral bees and bait hives

I was too young for the Isle of Wight disease and never used Fumidil B 🤣

    Feral bees and bait hives

You may have forgotten that pre-varroa beekeepers WERE treatment free. I certainly never treated.

    Feral bees and bait hives

This is a pipe dream, unless you are monitoring a specific place over a number of years, even if you are, it is a lottery in regard to them swarming. The colony might be one of those that supersede, you will not be able to monitor if there are swarm cells in the tree hollow. Similarly if you...

Refrigerating bees to get them to cluster and brood break in South California

They are on about using one round of chemicals per break instead of four.

You haven't responded to the context of the beginning of the thread, nor my last post, but just dismissed it as a hijack.
