    Paynes, closing?!

Compromise with a small shed and a large bungalow with one of the rooms as your other bee shed. Just mention it in passing.

    Paynes, closing?!

Luckily, I've never had to face the Spanish inquisition. I've had other expensive hobbies in the past and my wife is so understanding, that my hobbies are my space.

Have I got the wrong réfractomètre?

Some honey refractometers have 3 readings. Be, Brix and Water. Water is on the right hand side and is between 12 to 27%, some go up to 32. Brix would be between 58 to 90%.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

The Italian doctors and the British doctors are surprised I'm still alive.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I'm back home now, not allowed to drive for a month, not allowed to do heavy lifting so that the fibres can knit around the wires of the ICD and no alcohol until told otherwise. I have dilated cardiomyopathy. But I'm a fighter and while in Italy I was walking 2 to 3 kilometres without the ICD...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Thank you, from Gatwick to home as well as the doctor travelling with me, I'll be in a private ambulance. I have loads of praise for the Italian health service.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

What the doctors have told me is this will be a temporary issue, so cedar half supers would be future proofing my beekeeping.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

One year I had bees that covered me head to toe. I removed the hive in the evening to a spot away from the hives and shook all the bees out after killing the queen. They had to beg their way into the other hives and the brood frames were taken to another apiary and placed in a few hives. The...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Building then transportation of a Dartington will be a bit heavy for my liking. It is more to do with finding half supers for the footprint I already have. Or just building Dartington half supers. My thoughts are for ready built ones. Changing over to cyborg beekeeping 🤣

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I'll be flying home tomorrow from Rome with the assistance of a British doctor who will do the final checks on my fitness to fly this evening, ICD is working well, within its parameters. Short term my beekeeping practices will have to change dramatically because I will not be able to lift heavy...

Eggs not developing nor being removed…

If there aren't enough bees to cover the frames and there aren't multiple eggs in each cell, then I've always observed, eggs never develop.

How many bees in the hive?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

One year I had a battle with a swarm, multiple times they would stay on the outside. Until finally they relented.

    A level results

It will be my son's second year at Cardiff, studying computer science. He did all of his course on line and had to sit a test while he had taken a trip to Budapest for 7 days, they sprung the test on the students with very short notice.

    Walk-away split: reduce QC's?

What I've done in the past, is 2 to 3 frames of emerging brood the rest as stores, shaken more bees in. Then I have a cutout of eggs fashioned horizontally to the frames ( Hopkins Method of Queen Rearing). They have drawn out 6 queen cells close together. Then leave them alone.

    A level results

My daughter has been notified by UCAS that she has been accepted at University, she hasn't got her results yet as we are out of the country due to my misfortune, she tried ringing the school but will try again.

My own queens have defensive workers

I've been to his apiary (Daft Dai) and walked around the hives without protective gear on. The moment you open one hive up you have to wear protective gear it's a nighmare. There are horse stables nearby, they came after his bees, the horses certainly receive multiple stings

What did you do in the Apiary today?

As of just a few moments ago, I've had another ultrasound scan. With the ICD fitted the heart is functioning a lot better.
