    Artificial Swarm The Nuc Method.

    Smoker

They get lit in the morning at the first apiary of the day here and are usually going all day, in between apiaries they are transported (still lit) in an open five frame nuc box in the back of a truck, right behind the cab, two smokers fit well in a nuc box.

    AS - adjustment needed

The reason for shaking in extra bees when making up and keeping a nuc in the same apiary is to account for the number of bees flying back to the parent colony, thus avoiding hardly any bees in the nuc and frames of chilled/dead brood.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I tried that on a couple of colonies with CBPV, those two were the only two that died out of the 65+ that had it.

    AS - adjustment needed

Did you also ask her to shake in a few frames of extra bees?
  14. H

    Nosema

Could also be CBPV, more likely than Nosema.

    Konigin steam wax melter/centrifuge

Find them perfect for ordinary honey/comb/cappings but not very good for heather, so use a spinner/centrifuge for that, one bought via Swienty. https://beekeepingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38126

    On the hive

Get the same here, lizards on crown boards, slow worms under hives and anything else lying around, during nice weather in summer also find the occasional adder or grass snake sunning themselves in some apiaries.

Ceri, heather honey extracting is the main reason I bought it, the size is a little over 4', 125cm, runs nice and looks to be reasonably well made, not used it for heather yet, but am sure it will be a lot quicker than using screens in the Lyson machine. I still prefer the quality of the...
