    Poly Nuc moving **** up

No, it's not enough for very strong nucs, both Maisimore and Paynes also sell poly traveling screens specially made for the nuc boxes they supply, use quite a lot of them.

    They won't move up

You won't see any obvious signs of digestive problems with Ceranae, can also be wall to wall brood and packed with loads of young bees.

    Nosema.

    Knight of the long stingers

Tend to agree with him, we never wear bee suits here, much more comfortable, especially when its warm weather.

    June gap

Been a good flow from the worts... and the Hawthorn is just starting to flower here, also been a good flow from the sycamore, about another week and that will be pretty much over. The wild raspberries will soon be in flower, the bees usually do well from them.

Grafting gone wrong. Any tips for next time please?

You can remove them shortly after capping if need be, the wax webbing around cells during a light flow can be avoided to a point by adding some foundation, but during a heavy flow a strong cell builder will draw and fill it in a couple of hours... and then continue to fill in around the cells...

    Mating nucs

I really wouldn't like running 500 or a 1000 six frame commercial nucs just for mating virgin queens from, quite a chore catching up 70 or 80 queens of a morning from them, then the prep work for the next round of cells.

    Exceptional Swarm season

    About normal, havn't had any.

    Mating nucs

Nothing, use around 500+ of them, low on resources, high on return, they make life easy.

    Swarm control, "mini nuc method"

Usually, yes, let the queen walk directly out onto a comb and then replace the comb, this is how I introduce about 95% of queens, works well, provided they are laying queens. The failure rate here for this method is 1%.

    Swarm control, "mini nuc method"

I use the mini nuc method, but the original queen goes back... or a new one, on the 14th day after removal.

    Ergonomic theory on defensive bees

No, not had any problems with bees being on edge, all perfectly happy in straight lines, sometimes straight line up to 40 hives, no real drifting problem if all placed at the same time, add a few extra onto the end of a row after the first ones have been in situ for a few days... then major...

How to get All Beekeepers a Bad Name

    They are animals.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Yes, Steve... have seen queens with no wings, but they have all been very old queens, had one once that was just over five years old, no wings and no back legs either, one leg I accidentally cut off while clipping her in her second year, the other dropped off in her fifth year.

    Royal jelly conservation

It keeps well in a deep freeze, I store it in small plastic Eppendorf tubes, when needed I put a tube in my shirt pocket to warm up a couple hours before doing grafts, have even used it after being in the freezer for two or three years.

Keeping bees in for a day

They should be okay shut in with the mesh floor open, but if they are very strong a screen on top would also be better, bees can overheat very quickly when shut in and suffer complete melt down.

    Beginner's Course

I agree, the bee farmers course to learn about beekeeping is three years full time.

8.5 degree's and bringing in pollen.

That is very good, the queens will be nine days old now, so to emerge mate and start laying in that time is fast, quickest Ive known them go out on mating flights here was three days old a couple of seasons ago.
