    Recycling brood wax?

Still works out at an exceptional rate.

    Recycling brood wax?

That's a very good exchange rate based on their foundation pricing. It would take a bit of work to realise an equivalent cash return on wax products.

    A. If the Asian giant hornet gets here, start off with a common name that won't confuse with the existing Asian hornet. B. Can't keep changing names just to cover up other's lack of intelligence.

I'm still struggling to see why there's a need to change the common name. Unless of course it can be shown that many Asian hornets have escaped capture because their name isn't descriptive enough. Yellow legged/socked are both in common usage and will continue to be so even if one is prioritised...

Yes, that's right, but I'm at a loss as to what that has to do with my post. Edit: I now get the connection, however I was actually referring to velutina subspecies.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I'd suggest that the splitting will have helped control mite levels, maybe making nucs from your other colonies and introducing your chosen queens to them would be a better all round measure. I'm surprised that all four lines have remained good but it is still early days.

@Sutty has made an important point. Depending on angle/sightline things aren't always that clear Meanwhile there are a lot of insects out there which always show yellow legs no matter how you look at them* With so much layperson confusion we best expect total chaos if/when one or more of...

    Bee free honey

I wonder if the constant cry about large scale honey adulteration will aid the artificial honey market?

Pure speculation on my part but I wonder whether it would really take long for AH to gain a dominant position. ______________________ I'm all in favour of sensible monitoring and educated awareness but that's different to a stand back and watch approach. None of us know how this is all going...

    Buying kit in sales

If you're travelling there you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to actually go in and look around/attend a lecture or two. If you really don't want to do that then it's probably best to wait for the winter online sales. In fact, as I remember, Thornes had an online sale immediately after...

It's nice to hope but I doubt that the north is so inhospitable that they won't be able to establish themselves in time.

    Dadant or Thorne Empire

Slightly longer ammo boxes are out there, I had one for years but A.N.Other has driven off to Monmouthshire with it so I too am looking for one (at a tolerable price)!

    Affordable prewired assembled frames?

Have always preferred to use (frame)pins or to re-tighten, straight uncrimped wire just seems preferable to me. I did try wire crimpers a few years back thinking it would be a great time saver but found the only ones sold in the UK (up to recently) were/are pathetic excuses for tools...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Misread that, thought your bees had been on holiday 😂, seriously, I have a pretty good idea where you'd like to be heading but I think a few gentle questions could produce some interesting discussion that many might benefit from. It's all good stuff.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Perhaps @Curly green finger's is starting to take a more tentative approach to treatment, I'd be interested in hearing more myself, the big question for is is whether there's a trade off of other attributes in the search for an in-house treatment free bee.. mind, three years isn't necessarily a...
