    I've been using a fox thicknesses for years with no issues whatsoever but the blades are expensive at around 25quid a pair and easily damaged.Wood needs to be clean,any bits of grit etc. from drying outdoors damage the knives and a dust extractor is needed

    Treating 2/3 of my hives so far and all colonies have extremely low mite drops using thymol or oxalic vape.A few years ago all colonies were dropping large amounts but seem to get less each year and with two good summers I though the mite problem would be much worst.     Plywood bee hive

    Glue up all the cut edges with PVA and they should last a few years but will rot or delaminate sooner or later.ive got a few to change over to cedar because there's entrances at each corner where they've rotted but they are around five years old.

    I've normally got four strainers on the go when extracting.once ones full I put another under extractor.Each time one drains below first filter I remove wax with spoon.Once filter blocks too much it gets washed.I find doing it this way speeds up extraction a lot,much less time wasted waiting for...

    F1 are normally good if from good stock but can often become seriously defensive in future generations from what I've seen in carnies.i started with carnies and didn't need a veil on inspections.the daughters were excellent too but after that they became the hives from hell.

    Balsam Pollen?? but no stripe??

    I checked some pollen under the microscope earlier.no stripe on bees back but it was HB.if its a light lemon to it its probably ivy.there's also orange pollen still going in off the autumn hawkbit
