You've got me a bit concerned now.The little darlings got me three times today on the leg and goodness knows how many wasp stings I've had over the years.

    Heather 2021

The proper agitating machines are expensive. You would need a lot of hives on heather annually to justify cost unless you have money and space spare.Try scraping back to foundation and pressing. It works well.If you're dealing with too much heather honey annually then invest in better equipment

    Heather 2021

I use a large fruit press,it will hold two 30lb buckets of heather/wax mix.Its a lot of work.Flows quickly to start but then you need to put some serious pressure on it.After the initial quick flow of honey it become a slow job of having to open the press to break up the wax and honey and press...

    Moving Queen Cells

Yes i will.just hope its not like the last couple of seasons.didnt have a single frame of heather last year. This year has to be good(maybe being a bit optimistic there)but surely it cant be three bad heather crops in a row.

    Moving Queen Cells

If Im travelling to other sites with q cells,I put them in a sandwich bag with a string on handles and put around my neck and down my top to keep them warm. They're in roller cages so they don't get squashed.Never had any issues with queens not hatching.

2020 - is the consensus that its a bad year for beeks ?

Bees came through winter in poor shape after all the rain over winter, they just wouldn't build up early on so they couldn't take advantage of the good spring weather. The good weather at my location didn't run with the nectar flows.raining or dreary all through blackberry flowering period and a...
