    Butyric rodents

We've got horses and chickens. Both in ex commercial pìg sheds. Autumn usually sees an invasion of rodents and a few weeks of rat bait replenishment in stations. Mouse traps +lidl cheap chocolate for the meeces. It's unrealistic to keep chicken food inaccessible to rodents but the rodents go for...

    Butyric rodents

Get a few mechanical traps and bait them with chocolate softened then squashed tightly into the bait well/cup. Rodents tend to approach traps best when they're in a sheltered spot that doesn't require trekking across open spaces where predators might notice them...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

We mentioned RAB only recently. He frequently said exactly that. 😁

    Robbing for how long

RAB gave excellent advice. I'm sorry he doesn't post here now. It did get wearying when others who know far less but were legends in their own minds fired potshots from afar.

Is supermarket honey not real honey then?

I do admit to enjoying an ice cold coke but look back fondly to teenage years consuming Blue triangle Bass.

Is supermarket honey not real honey then?

Like it or not values and perceptions have changed. I look back to my post ww2 childhood when no one thought twice about eating misshapen, scabby vegetables once peeled and cooked. Sharing fruit with fauna wasn't uncommon as trees weren't routinely sprayed (what's worse than finding a worm in...

    Aliexpress stainless honey gates?

Milling Machine? Oh how I wish ☺️ - it would be a flat file followed by a sheet of glass and grinding paste for me nowadays.

    I'll not ask what 10 indicates. 🤔

    Exxon Mobil

Is that the same team that researched ocean level rise and forecast massive areas would be under water some years ago?

    Gold plating?

Idly sitting with my JRT on my knee I began reading this months comic, I came to the long article about labeling of honey. I noticed the author states the labels should include the name and address of the PACKER, although I'm pretty sure the regulatory requirement was for the PRODUCER. My...

    Apivar and OA vaping

Over reliance coupled with improper dosage/use created the previous problems with hard/synthetic treatments. I see nothing to stop it repeating with amitraz etc.

Thick Cream coloured low density Honey?

Honey mousse - I'll log that marketing gem Dani 👌😋

    Apivar and OA vaping

Perhaps yet another case where asking the question "is experienced the same thing as competent" needs consideration?

    Apivar and OA vaping

Why do you consider Amitraz has a low risk of introducing resistance?

    Nut allergy labelling

The last example sounds exactly like something out of an episode of the Simpsons I saw a couple of months ago

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I bought a small 4 wheel gardeners trolley cart a few years ago. Which has a flat floor suitably sized to hold two national supers (fore and aft) and with 4 fold down sides so it's good to safely transport 6 supers at a time. The original wheels were pneumatic and I could guarantee 2 punctures...

    Clearing Bees from Supers

Due to arthritis even kneeling down nowadays requires something to haul myself up with (such as a handy 5 bar field gate or similar) so I'd not be able to join in with such gymnastics. 😖

    What happened to sulphur strips?

Sulphur powder is available from on line sources. Why not accelerate the process? I had a Merit boys chemistry set which had a booklet describing mixing it with ground charcoal and potassium nitrate. The resultant mix burnt VERY rapidly. 😎
