    Beesting as autoimmune trigger?

OK so I am not medically qualified nor am I an immunologist but I have a condition (IBD)which very recently raised its head with a severe flare up of symptoms. The flare-up coincided with a beesting on my thumb which gave a swollen hand reaction and Piriton seemed to do its job. Is it possible...

    Paynes, closing?!

Best to stand there with hands on hips, head shaking and tutting loudly whilst asking "how the hell has that happened? I ordered a nice pair of shoes for you pet, and they've sent me all this..." Tbh it's never really worked for me but I keep trying K :)

    New Information board needed?

The new board would read something along the lines of... "Here we have a colony of Varroa Mite living as nature intended (had nature actually imported Varroa into the UK in the first place) they are happily feeding on those nasty stingy bee things that those horrid beekeepers let fly all over...

    Supercedure? Advice please

Grass is history now thanks to the bees taking over anyway. I didn't realise that I wanted to lose the flyers and for that reason... every day is a school day. Thanks again K ;)

    Supercedure? Advice please

Ok I went back down and the wee beggars had already broke though the grass, so I removed the rest... This is how I'm " sheltering" the roof... Thanks for your help and advice. K ;)

    Supercedure? Advice please

The nuc floor is fixed solid... I could drill some 3mm holes along the sides near the bottom on both sides. Are you saying to open the entrance and just lose the flyers? That would give some ventilation at least...

    Supercedure? Advice please

Thanks, I shook quite a few bees in so fingers crossed, but I am concerned about the temperatures tomorrow... 27 deg + !! Note I am not complaining ;) The nuc is a five frame with a solid floor and a ducting type entrance wasp preventer (although there's still no wasps here). With the grass in...

    Supercedure? Advice please

I have a colony lead by a Red Q from BMH and she is laying well but appears to have lost a front leg but still getting around OK. There is plenty space for her and there's a Super filling above her. In the last two inspections I noticed QC's and as I, at least, am happy with her, I knocked them...

    Forced Absconding

Could you suck out the bulk of the live bees with a suitable hoover. Does smoking out from below (no flames) help? What about a leaf blower left on to chill/kill the brood from below? K 🤔

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Blimey! Some impressive harvests there... I was pleased with my 30 lbs in June and 55 lbs last weekend, mainly from one colony but with a couple of frames nicked from a slower ( now queenless) colony. My third colony hasn't produced anything in its super yet but was a late split so no worries...

    Is beekeeping getting harder?

That'll be those bloody 4x4 chariots being used for ye olde schoole run... K :ROFLMAO:

a small swarm has arrived - leave them to move in, or assist?

Could you shake them into nuc2? Or perhaps shake them into a bigger plastic storage box then pour them into a nuc? K ;)
