    Adding a 2nd brood box

It depends, how much your colony has bees. If they have bees enough, they may occupy perhaps 1/2 out of box undet the brood box. But if you put empty brood box over the first BB, there will be a huge gab between the supers and the brood. I have just now a double brood colony, and no supers...

    Full brood box..

And excluder stoping to lay more. Where bees put pollen? They store it in honey frames. Where to put nectar when super are full of honey. ... bees store nectar into brood combs. Drying up nectar needs twice as much space than ready honey.

    Mating nucs absconding- any theory

I use to keep the queen laying in mating nucs 4 weeks, that I see what kind of brood and bees the queen does

    Does foundation go off?

It is very difficult to use and lots of damages. I heat the room to 25C with electric heater, and the wax returns flexible.

    Full brood box..

I looked this evening my good hive. It is some kind of hybrid. Buckfast × Italian × Carniolan. About 10 queen cells. Tomorrow I make an artificial flying swarm onto foundations. And that is it. The hive is full of nectar and the queen is almost stopped laying. After 3 days it starts again...

    Full brood box..

Grazy.... Ypu have a good queen which like to lay more than you permit. You play with risk , that hou force your hive to swarm I like good layers and big hives. Such bring honey. . I use 3 langstroth brood boxes. Big idea is that the lowest box is a pollen store. Otherwise bees store pollen...

    Mating nucs absconding- any theory

If you rear 15 queens and you put there one full frame of bees and one frood frame, it will be a normal hive to found the mating nucs.

    Does foundation go off?

Something extra to do to beekeepers, if they do not invent what.

    Mating nucs absconding- any theory

Start to use 3 normal frame mating nucs, and the nuc will never abscond. But the nuc needs brood there, that bees feel it cosy. If the mating nuc box has 3 separate rooms, losses will be big. I changed those to solitary nucs and losses went to zero.

Preemptive Demaree…does it have to be?

I let the hives grow long as I see queen cells. Then I make badgen AS on foundations If AS stuffs are ready, AS is very easy to do.

    Does foundation go off?

Warm uo the room to 25C and brittle foundation will become soft. It lays down along wires nicely. 2 years old foundation is very new. I have never used hair dryer to foundations, but I always warm up the room to 25C.

    Angry bees!!!

Reason to angry bees is, that they are angry. You notice it later, when you change the queen. Very simple.. Natural bees must protect their hive. It is in bees' genes.
