    How much?!

I had a go at that Sutty and found it a real PIA even with a few frames :ROFLMAO: Soon switched to one of those small screw driven fruit presses, easier and far more satisfying.

    Just what is the point?

They seem to have an uncanny ability to select the tenderest areas to feed on. Food for swallows and swifts or bats though I guess.

Swarms not as plentiful this year

Only the second swarm I've had this year so far but it looks a bit larger than the first. Sadly wasnt able to stick around to watch them finish going in as was going out for dinner, still amazing to hear and see them arrive though.

Swarms not as plentiful this year

A lot of interest in the swarm trap at home yesterday with a few scuffles breaking out at the entrance at one point. Hoping to have chance to see them arrive from distance similar to last year. I'd caught a few by this time last year but this is the first real interest that's been shown in any...

    Gas Vap Blowtorch

I used this one which comes with a range of nozzle adaptors but I've only had to use the basic standard one. These are quite a common option so it could be that you've already tried these with no luck? If that's the case, it may be that the pressure valve has become damaged, or more likley...

    Gas Vap Blowtorch

That sounds like an incorrect type of nozzle for that particular valve and that most of the gas is escaping. Have you tried more than one type? I've found the long butane lighter ones work ok for it.

Nasty behaviour in the veggie plot

I thought that this thread was going to be about damn cats fouling in your painstakingly prepared fresh veg bed! I'd come in with a chip on my shoulder looking for a cathartic vent. Maybe time to stary my own thread ,I'm like a pressure cooker over here

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Not for treating bees. It's widely used on livestock. ( the four legged kind anyway :) )

    Mass Shootings

I think the media is more of an issue in the sense that when soemthing terrible like this happens, the chances of there being another such crime shortly after signifcantly increases. It's not necessarily just copycat killing, but other deranged people seeing the mass attention that the usually...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Moved two new 14x12 nucs into their hives using a pair of eke's. Despite having seen pictures of 14X12 alongside regular brood frames, I didnt quite appreciate the increase in area until it came to handling them! Once they've drawn out the new frames I'll try and switch over to regular brood.

Or possibly that they are certain it is one but actually need someone with the relavant seniority/ bit of paper to confirm it? Worrying regardless:cautious:

Varroa aggregate on young drones, IN PREFERENCE to nurse bees

No, I think it was in resposne to a question he was asked in a live chat either on his Patreon or as part of a Q&A as a guest. Could have been related to a query about a dedicated drone cage ( not brood trapping ) I don't need much of an excuse to listen to NHC back catalogue so I'll have a...

Varroa aggregate on young drones, IN PREFERENCE to nurse bees

IIRC I heard Stewart Spinks talking about it on one of his Youtube videos where he is discussing Varroa treatment options.
