    Cars hate me

I had a skoda fabia that did the same after about 3 years as well. Annoyingly they put this part at the back of the engine. This needs an entire engine out to change it. Back in 2015 it was £500 for the part and the same again for 2 days labour. I sold it straight away.

Is beekeeping hard? And if so, why?

I decided that running 2 hives would mean that I would take forever to learn. You mention feedback cycles are slow, but also just exposure to different scenarios is hard to get. So I split to 8 hives in this my first full year. So, now I have seen the hives in many states. Requeening...

Getting the lids off Thorne's honey buckets

Is that not the point? The kids can't get in then.

Handling Abelo mating hive and bs honey nuc. (two hives split by partition)

Interesting. How long do you find the frames last? The new mini plus national ones are quite expensive.

Handling Abelo mating hive and bs honey nuc. (two hives split by partition)

Hi thanks for the reply. Do your mini hives have a feeder above? The plastic crown board would stop access unless you have cut holes in it I guess. This is the hive I have https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=abelo+mating+hive&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 though I think this new one may be...

Handling Abelo mating hive and bs honey nuc. (two hives split by partition)

I bought an abelo mating hive this year but unfortunately had a horrible robbing out before I noticed so didn't get very far. I never got the chance to do anything with the hives. I was wondering how people handle it? The feeder is directly on the hive which is split in to two sides with a...

God I love growing our own

There are some nice jam recipes that come out a bit like marmalade. Not sure what I used last time as I just google each time.

    Cheaper fondant

    How long will it keep?

    Adding honey to sugar feed

I found that it started fermenting really quickly when I tried this. Although it might be I had too much water as I tried to dissolve the honey off the bottom of the tray I used to catch my cappings.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Isn’t it a bit early for vaping? I thought the broodless period is in December. What’s leading you to all do it at the moment?

    Jar of honey packaging

I asked Tesco but only on a phone call and they were happy with hobbyists. I think I need to get it writing. Especially as I'll be doing it under a business umbrella. Do you mind saying who came up as allowing business?

    Jar of honey packaging

Do you deliver, or they collect? A lot of home insurances seem to be affected by trade from home when I checked. They don't like a high footfall. I'm trying to see what other people do.

    Jar of honey packaging

You could certainly do a bit of Facebook and just offer it locally. Now the problem I believe is there is meant to be no food advertised. I see quite a few honey sales from the same people year after year though.

    Jar of honey packaging

With regards quantities ‘Small Quantities’ refers to the quantity of a product you can supply whilst continuing to operate within the regulatory exemptions. You should speak to the environmental health officer from your Local Authority for guidance on what they would determine as ‘small...

    Jar of honey packaging

The guidance for small producers - direct supply in Scotland has the following ‘Local Supply’ means supply within the same Local Authority, in immediately neighbouring Local Authorities or those situated no more than 30 miles/50 kilometres from the boundary of the supplier’s Local Authority ...

Larva but why not eggs? Nicot and grafting

I had a rubbish first round hand grafting, but with specs (magnifiers+powerful light) on, the next time it worked well. I used the Ben Harden method which worked really well. The colony keeps operating more or less as normal. Don't miss the last emergency queen cell if you pop them in another...

    Honey room waste water

Yep, I was worried about that. I read a few minutes ago that any grey water can go straight into a infiltration ditch so its not as big a problem as I thought it would be .

    Honey room waste water

So you just wash general stuff outside in a big bucket? filters etc. At the end of the day its annoying having two sinks requirement as I seem only be able to use the handwashing one so far.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

They were in a full hive but I've reduced them to a 6 frame nuc. About 3 seams of bees at the moment. I've given them lots of drawn comb which was a wonderful moment when I realised I could do it for the first time. So they have a whole frame of pollen both sides and a few fully loaded honey...

    Honey room waste water

I'm looking at building a honey room out the back. Waste water is a bit of a funny one. I don't want to connect any sinks in the honey room to my sceptic tank because as I understand it, wax and drains don't mix. What have other people done with their outlets?
