    MAQS - Formic Pro

Thanks for the replies Finman. Still none the wiser though why MAQS says ok with supers & Formic Pro (UK instructions) says not to be used with supers………. I see another thread regarding Formic Pro has appeared so will monitor that one also.

    MAQS - Formic Pro

I see that the next generation of MAQS is landing on the UK shores - intrigued why you’re now unable to use with supers in place whereas this wasn’t the case with MAQS. Anyone able to enlighten me? Although I never used MAQS with supers in place prior to extraction there’s always a super in...

Well It Did Miss 2 & Plenty of Firewood - Storm Eunice

As per the title - at least it missed two of the seven. A little damaged but now sort of back together so should be okay until moved elsewhere. Lots of firewood!

What is this wax formation on old brood frame (pic attached)

 What’s the chance of that……3 bee keepers in agreement (just about) and answering all at the same time

What is this wax formation on old brood frame (pic attached)

Look like a little brace comb constructed between the frame and the flat surface it was next to.

Their sale prices are on their webpage for pre order at BeeTradeX after registration.

    Langstroth or national.

Chris, as already said nothing wrong with commercials at all but looking at your photos a little closer, check the top/bottom bee space. Your commercial (home made?) brood box appears to be top bee space whereas the national supers look like bottom bee space. This could be resolved (if correct)...

    Langstroth or national.

Nothing wrong with commercials at all, use the brood box & everything else is national.

    BeeTradex

Good luck with your venture Patrick, BeeTradex was an excellent event & I would wish it to continue. The main attraction to myself were the international manufacturers - with the number of these growing year on year. Carl Fritz, Thomas, Logan, Abelo, koninognog…..nognognog…….however the hell you...

Poll: Should it be legal to use the word "Raw" on labels to describe unheated, non-pressure filtered honey

But isn’t that why ‘our customers’ keep returning & we have no issues selling our Honey? You can easily purchase blended honey for a fifth of the price of the typical retail price around here of local honey. People do know & appreciate the difference. I don’t really care what others are up to. I...

Poll: Should it be legal to use the word "Raw" on labels to describe unheated, non-pressure filtered honey

OMG for something that is sooooo simple it’s amazing this is still be being debated, oh hang on this is a bunch of beekeepers we’re on about:) Surely the word ‘Honey’ should suffice? A good quality product that is of acceptable appearance to the market place where sold should do - the need to...

    Jars prices on the rise

I wouldn’t be concerned with the Welsh or Irish BKA but suggest you take it up with the SBA. If the members of the BBKA benefit due to a deal agreed then well done for the BBKA. Makes a change for them to do something right as they usually come in for a lot of flack.

    Abelo metal adjustable stand

I think that falls into the catorgory of theoretical but not actual. Type of thing that gets written in the Daily Mail…….I'm not referring to anything in particular just the amount of tripe that gets published

    Heating honey

Quite a harsh reply Oliver90 - maybe a poorly informed newbie open to suggestion from who knows where as opposed to guidance from a beekeeper who actually has some experience in our wonderful pastime/industry. The heating/treating/handling of Honey can be quite an emotive subject. I always try...

    Heating honey

All well & good but when you’ve a 30lb bucket of concrete that you want to process into a liquid honey a bit of warmth is required. I think the 130F/55C for 2 days is the compromise of temp v time. I advise people yes I do warm my honey to process, but stress warm not cook.
