    Honey Jar Labels ???

Just had a label delivery from Thornes, 2*1000 of one & 1000 of another (same label just slightly different details). A label I’ve used for I don’t know how many years & am very happy with. I’ve never really looked anywhere else but don’t think I will with the price quoted above…………my invoice...

    Autumn feeding

We’ve always got a super on. Either above during the season or below over winter. So much depends on your own circumstances. We use MAQS which works for me & the way I deal with autumn treating & feeding - yes 98% of our colonies are fed irrespective of circumstance. The only odd one not fed...

    Autumn feeding

Similar to Hebeegeebee - most colonies now treated and in process of feeding. Ivy just about to blossom here in Suffolk so pretty much the end of the beekeeping season.

    Swienty turntable bottling machine

A cheaper version of pipe connection but not food quality I believe. Just need to check on connection sizes and outlets from tanks - the Abelo valves on their tanks are chemically bonded so not easily removed. https://www.waterlineproducts.co.uk/polypropylene-camlock-1-1-2-inch-fittings

    DIY honey warmer construction

Times 2, all enclosed under a S/Steel top, 10 supers per bay - very handy. The 4 tubes warm the area very quickly and maintain. Space also used for warming buckets prior to filtering & jarring.

    Maqs - bad news

I’ve held off putting MAQS on, weather too hot in my opinion but all colonies will be treated with it. Wasps can be probmatical as entrances will be fully open but they seem to have peaked and now tailing off. I always have a super on for additional space, good product plus quick in my opinion.

    Syrup order…

It will keep so won’t waste if you over order. We fill an English feeder twice per colony so approx 2 containers do three hives-ish. We've already had weight v volume on another thread but you'll probably find its 14kg containers - approx 10ltrs. ;) If your colonies haven’t filled the brood...

What sugar/water ratio is Belgosuc syrup?

To be fair not quite rubbish, maybe just misunderstood. I’ve just routed out an old syrup authentication advice note & yes, 71-72% sugars, so 28-29% water - Amari this answers your query. The breakdown you got from David was the proportions of the type of sugars.

What sugar/water ratio is Belgosuc syrup?

I want to say 72% sugars………….can’t find anything to substantiate this though. As for ‘Bobs’ top tips you should know better than to go surfing at your age. I haven’t looked at Bobs tips but I’m guessing stimulatory feeding is to boost numbers. The syrup is for stores not boosting numbers. High...

I was stung on the neck today

I got stung up the nose at the start of this week, right on the cartlidge between the nostrils - have to say that did bring a tear to the eye. In fact I can honestly say that’s the most painful sting I’ve ever had🥲

    Honey Separating in the Jar

A general guideline (This isn’t aimed at you Poot). Honey stores better in bulk so don’t have hanging around in jars, only jar up what you’re going to turn around in a reasonable time. If you’re not turning it around quickly then reconsider how you’re selling it - especially the price point, all...
