    Raw honey

By the time a decision is made about raw, a new term will have come out the woodwork to market a simply delicious product anyhow so in my mind it’s all irrelevant. I’ll have also sold another load of Honey with no snake oil hokus pokus marketing baloney in the meantime to be enjoyed by some...

£14/lb for Welsh Honey…………..https://lovehilltop.com/products/welsh-blossom-honey?_pos=3&_fid=6eafb9aa1&_ss=c £10/lb for British………….https://lovehilltop.com/products/british-blossom-honey?_pos=1&_fid=6eafb9aa1&_ss=c I’d say Hilltop is attempting to sell a premium product at a premium price -...

    Time to change our tune?

BeeKeyPlayer - sometimes I think people can overthink things a bit. Honey may not be the “Super cure all food stuff” that some profess but it is a pretty good natural product which when treated with respect ain’t half bad and is certainly a damn sight better for you than processed sweeteners. By...

    The Beekeeping Show 2024

Surprised not to have seen a thread about this? Maybe I’ve missed & if so apologies. Spent a day at the trade exhibition in Telford on Saturday. Really pleased that this appears to be growing into the event that the original BeeTradeX was. Well supported with a large number of European...

    Extractor

Yep but Thornes have been about for a while, should there be any issues (not to be expected) and you’d have them sorted. Re-sale value will also hold up due to this should your circumstances change. Maybe kept an eye out for a second hand one.

Hive Monitoring - Surprising winter data

Not able to comment on your monitoring situation but having done the rounds recently 20% of my colonies now have a slab of fondant on which is considerably more than in the last few years.

    New EU honey labelling rules.

I don’t think the target market paying 75p for a jar of honey really care where it’s sourced from (or even what it actually is).

    New EU honey labelling rules.

As with all others I’m aware of the fraudulent product imported into the UK but didn’t appreciate the onward movement of said product - with all the whoha about Brexit boundaries etc etc I’m surprised by your statement. Why go to all the bother of buying from us as opposed to importing directly...

    New EU honey labelling rules.

I was somewhat surprised to hear in that video clip that the UK along with China & Turkey were the main suppliers of fraudulent Honey entering the EU.

    Beekeeping tax strategy

If you’re planning on making a profit I’d keep quite as you’ll then have to pay tax on that income…….. If like most beekeepers you actually run at a loss then yes, offset losses against your other income. If you’re serious about setting up a bee farming enterprise then go voluntary VAT...

    Marbling in soft set honey.

Our set Honey will spend A full cycle in an Abelo creamer - 99hrs being agitated every hour from memory. Warm filtered liquid in, a previous set Honey added as a seed. When jarring it is an opaque liquid that is then left to set in the jar. The end product is a set Honey but easily spoonable out...

    sugar price

That is just so typical of the world we live in - British Sugar supplying a non UK product………I’m sure they’ll be a reason but equally I’m sure there’s a reason why it shouldn’t.
