Selling honey through a village shop

Thinking out loud here. The honey comes from the the bees that come from the hive that is owned by the beekeeper. Surely the land owner therefore does not have anything to do with primary producer etc as else an awful lot of Tennant farmers or vast farm who lease the land would not be primary...

Visit to Thornes at Rand yestersay

Visited Thornes at their Rand production and shop yesterday. The group visit was arranged by my local BBKA Assoc. It's well worth a local associations arranging a visit, very interesting tour seeing all parts of their manufacturing process. Fascinating seeing the machinery and just how much is...

    “Crunchy Honey”

Just had a look at the Honey regs to remind me if them. Am I correct in my interpretation that as well as not being applied use the word "Crunchy" that "Soft-Set" is also not an authorised in the label too. Is "Crunchy" just an additional clarifying word, I can't see it being misleading. If...

Setup a wooden national with solid floor and lemongrass a number of years ago. Swarm arrived and settled with a pre-marked queen.

Ivy honey set in brood box

Guess spraying with water works then. I must admit it did pass my mind doing that. I have quite a few hives packed with Ivy honey.

And once again the gullible queue up to be gulled

Too many videos on YouTube of Americans doing this in their appiary, they call it feeding bees with syrup for winter.

    Careful with that knife, Eugene

A fork! Reminds me of a quote from the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Quite curtiusy of IMDB. [the Sheriff has said he'll cut out Robin Hood's heart with a spoon] Guy of Gisborne : Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe? Sheriff of Nottingham : Because it's DULL, you twit. It'll hurt more.

Whats falling down the gap between the NBU and the BBKA?

Some of our suppliers of hive equipment don't help. I have bought two roofs for wood nationals, they have vents incorporated in them with no option for an unvented variant. Need to seal up the vents. New beekeepers come startup and from the get go even brand new hives still have ventilation. I...
