I would leave the dead tree. Fantastic resource for over wintering inspects and bugs plus a fantastic habitat throughout the year. Don't for get bees are a woodland insect so should be well able to survive any tine of the year in the shade sorry I wouldn't worry about it.

Thats my take on it and nice to see a confirmation. The only snag I see is, I got the bees feeding on it in the feeder no problems. But it's wearer they collectively remember it's up there over a few cold days is the question.
