What's flowering as forage in your area

Hopefully 18c or 19c ambient with some sun, less rain and double figure overnight temps get everything going. I really hope the wet weather with some warm weather gives nice humid conditions with the Lime and the season recovers.

Hope your first year is going well. Lime is a little frustrating. It's a very hit and noss crop. For a good nectar flow your require warm humid conditions with overcast skies ideally. This is because the nectar tends to dry out both in the sun and also in dry air conditions more so than other...

    Keeping bees in the garden

Worth a few quid if hardback it seems.

Why do 7-day inspections work - when they do?

Location. I have a beehive in my urban garden and absolutely can't afford for a swarm to go.

We have within 20 miles 3...

It's the Rkmford one that I think has the potential to be the real worry. Assuming it's a overwinter queen that is mated and there are other mates queens undetected in the local area. Built up area, plenty of places to build nests with little to no access. It's an urban area which remains...

    Pursuit of AMM Black Bees

Many seem to prefer a black bee and think it must be AMM or a local bee to their area. Clicked on the Black Mountain queens advert on this site out of idle curiosity. Love the pictures of the Carniolian and Caucasion queens. Wonder how many bee keepers have caught a swarm from these and...

Any scouts at your swarm trap?

Set up more bait hives. Bees stopped coming to original bait hive but it is in a sunny position tbh so I don't think they like it.

    Mares/Horsetail weed

I have it at home. The roots go down easily 2 meters, really dense root system and they snap as soon as you tug. Nothing like bund weed where your can lift it out with a fork and seperdre from the earth with a few shakes. I use Kurtail. One of the snags is that because it has a waxy foliage...
