What did you do in the Apiary today?

I visited the farm apiary yesterday. It was pretty cold and grey with not a bee in sight. I hefted the hives. They seemed pretty heavy, so gather have plenty of supplies to be getting along with.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Yes....that got me a while back. For a while I thought there were bears stalking Hertfordshire! :icon_204-2:

    Jars prices on the rise

I'm poor enough as it is. All these '10% of income now spent on fuel' headlines is inaccurate. I seem to spend 23%. I am currently perfecting the art of living on air. Even if I wanted a car, I could not afford to run it now. My partner provides driving services, when I need to transport...

    Jars prices on the rise

It came from two different observers. It is a two day event. Were you there both days? I think the incident may have happened on the Sunday, but as I said, was not personally there. I will find out. As for not being a member......I think that annoyed me more than anything! Two years in a...

    Bee(keeper) space

I love it when 'civilians' say: "It must be loverley getting out all that honey." My reply is: "NOOOOO.....it's 'orrible! Everything gets sticky......you find the smallest drops of honey transferred EVERYWHERE, if you're not careful!" Mind you, my extraction has become far more efficient now...

    Jars prices on the rise

Viewing box.....observation hive.......something you see bees in......a hive......who knows? I was not there, but got enough witnesses telling me that it was 'Unbeelaughable' Wow.....I invented yet another word today! :icon_204-2:

    Jars prices on the rise

I think it was 2016. I sent in my money (bank transfer) to the South Birmingham lot. In June I suddenly wondered what had happened to the BBKA mag and local publication. I emailed and got a 'who are you?' reply. They admitted to a mistake, but to cut a long story short I never heard another...

    Bee(keeper) space

I know what you mean. No one talks much about the sheer amount of equipment, some essential, some not so much, that is required! I have a ten by eight shed, a greenhouse of the same size and access to a garage (my partner's ) The trouble is that I live in a pokey flat in the '*rse...

    Mead and wine making

The difference between wine and mead is about the same as tea and coffee? I make mead from honey that is left spare from bottling. I also only started making mead when the amount of honey I was producing became very high. The more honey produced does lead to more honey that never makes it...

    Winter bees

I agree. It's like calling drones 'summer bees.'

    Skip diving 2024

It's quite ornate. It looks like it may have been for stripping bark from branches? I'm thinking spindles or pegs.

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

I must put my explorer trousers on then! I dare say this post will be heading the same way? NHS - Poor Cost Control :willy_nilly:

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

I was not informed, to my knowledge. I am not in the habit of chasing threads and posts around, to find where they have gone. The message I got was: You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action. Ohhh errr o_O

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Apologies. I had no idea that Environmental issues had absolutely no connection with beekeeping and thus had its own section, along with politics......... Lesson learnt.....for a fair few of us on here I think? It would have been nice to have been informed that the posts had been...

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

I never S#e#r on here.....yet often seem to have posts removed. Apparently, putting people right about Crypto trading was as good as telling someone to F**k **f this morning! The whole subject of Green Energy and how to address it was removed :willy_nilly: "Don't Panic Captain Manwaring!"...

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

I've been wax rendering and sorting out old frames. I've sort of 'shot myself in the foot' by developing a more efficient uncapping system. It has meant less damage to frames, so there is less wax to render! As I am beginning to realise that wax is equally, if not more, valuable than honey...
