Could the bees from the *weak* box simply have decided they preferred the other hives? - it happens (a lot).

Days? I've tiny Apidea hives fending off wasps no problem, a nucleus should be more than capable of handling wasps (unless super docile bees).

My business, £4 minimum depending on type (beans/osr/borrage/echium/lime/chestnut/etc) but comb much more. But then again, BFA member, DASH and running a serious breeding programme so have to factor these costs into production.

Inflation has made producing honey far more expensive over the past years, the packers will be forced to pay more and soon going on this years poor harvest. I've tons stored; no way I'd sell for £3 lb considering the costs and graft involved, but £4 lb would be a business minimum to cover...

£10-£12 around here if you place into jars, even the facebook sellers get £8 lb which still gives packers a decent margin.

Depends on how much you value your customers and business. Most (if not all) of those issues can be resolved easily enough. For the small % of tricky situations you might encounter, the solution is very simple (charge more to cover it) :)
