Honey For Sale Honey for Sale

https://www.bshoneybees.co.uk/honeybuckets My bulk pricing is set the same or £7.50 lb B2B, zero issues at this price. Everyone runs their business to suit XYZ etc £2/lb would be farms looking to offload 10's of tons in barrels/buckets fast - with inflation that would be £1.50/lb in 2018 =...

Expected weight of 5 frame Nuc when buying bees

Could the bees from the *weak* box simply have decided they preferred the other hives? - it happens (a lot).

Expected weight of 5 frame Nuc when buying bees

Days? I've tiny Apidea hives fending off wasps no problem, a nucleus should be more than capable of handling wasps (unless super docile bees).

Good case for keeping a couple of *happy* stocks at each site but control the drones, good luck removing those frames into nucs and selling on!

    Bulk honey prices

My business, £4 minimum depending on type (beans/osr/borrage/echium/lime/chestnut/etc) but comb much more. But then again, BFA member, DASH and running a serious breeding programme so have to factor these costs into production.

    Bulk honey prices

Inflation has made producing honey far more expensive over the past years, the packers will be forced to pay more and soon going on this years poor harvest. I've tons stored; no way I'd sell for £3 lb considering the costs and graft involved, but £4 lb would be a business minimum to cover...

    Bulk honey prices

£10-£12 around here if you place into jars, even the facebook sellers get £8 lb which still gives packers a decent margin.

    Bulk honey prices

With inflation and everything increasing... these prices need to start from £4 lb minimum. £3-3.50 seems to be the pricing from 10 years ago or more.

Bees For Sale What's the going rate for a nuc or full sized colony?

Depends on how much you value your customers and business. Most (if not all) of those issues can be resolved easily enough. For the small % of tricky situations you might encounter, the solution is very simple (charge more to cover it) :)

Bees For Sale What's the going rate for a nuc or full sized colony?

Simple, DASH covers you regards sending out dangerous stocks and your T&C's (and comprehensive pre-purchase advice) covers those unfortunate incidents. All part of the joy of selling to the general public and part of your business plans around a % loss due to XYZ. The comment was more around...

I'd hope a professional seller/business would also offer ongoing help and support (needs to be factored into pricing).

    F0 Breeder Queen

The terminology came from plants And - Not an official term in genetics, but often used in reference to the founder, or parental, generation in a line of captive-bred organisms. Makes logical sense (to me) and more interested in the actual results. Rather than hanging on the terminology look...

    F0 Breeder Queen

It's a starting *data* point and you can call them what you like, anyone breeding queens will know exactly what you're talking about so pay zero attention to the comment. You select from your best stocks and create queens from those, the starting point - then raise queens from those. As you move...

    Second Brood box Vs Super/s

Hi Nick If the original nuc frames are capped and about to emerge and the rest eggs/brood i'd hold fire on the second box and just add super(s) so bees have space (you'll have a bunch of empty frames soon). This is where running a single size box is handy and you can move the frames around and...
