Price of honey jars - up , up , up

They've been doing those prices for well over a month now, but they've stopped the additional 33% off for multiple orders over £15. Still, I've had over 250 jars. Customers very happy with them.

    rounded edges

My corners don't get rounded as I never insert the hive tool there, only along the sides at different places and by sliding the tool along until it makes a gap.

Piles of dead bees under hives

As the Varroa board doesn't seal off the OMF, I think the best solution is to put a solid floor back in to get them used the side entrance again

Piles of dead bees under hives

most of my floors have underfloor tunnel entrances with nailed-in mesh so make it more tricky for the bees to reorientate, or to replicate in an eke, but I'll triy your idea.

Piles of dead bees under hives

Not always easy to remove the mesh. Guess I'll have to remove the floor again and wait until there's a danger of robbing to put the floors back.

Piles of dead bees under hives

The colonies have almost completely recovered now, are looking strong and are mostly packing in the honey in this good weather. However, I replaced the OMF on one hive and the bees are mostly unable to find the entrance and hang under the OMF. I did it in the late evening when all bees were...

Piles of dead bees under hives

Its a good talk, concise and objective. I've removed the floors, added ekes and cleared dead bees. Maybe it's improving already but too early to be sure.

Piles of dead bees under hives

The CBPV still looks really bad as 100's of bees are dying every day in each hive, but maybe not as bad as it was. There are still plenty of bees filling the brood box and plenty of brood. They are not collecting much nectar but that may be the weather despite plenty of bramble flowers. This is...

Piles of dead bees under hives

Thanks for the replies. I've removed the floors. The queens in each of the infected hives are still laying strongly with 5 or more frames of brood so I'm hoping that they'll recover soon, and not sure if requeening will help.

Piles of dead bees under hives

Thanks. Certainly looks like that. Tens of thousands of bees have died. So a disastrous year to come as all 4 colonies are affected. Now need to think about how to recover and what is the risk of it recurring. After EFB 4 years ago makes you think about giving up.

Piles of dead bees under hives

2 weeks ago before I went on holiday one of my 3 hives was bursting with bees. When I returned it was far less busy, but had not swarmed, as the queen is still there with no QCs and plenty of BIAS. But there are big piles of dead bees under and in front of the hive, as there are also in front of...
