    Cut Comb frame.

There are all sorts of dodges to avoid buying CC foundation and to me, it's adding stress and work for the bees and on that basis in my mind it's not good beekeeping. Surely our job is to aid and guide? PJH

One of those in theory it sounds great but it needs more thought as with the best will in the world and barring pressure washing there is going to be contamination of the crop you are aiming at and people in general don't want bricks of honey. ;) PH

Square sections are tricky which is why the rounds were invented. If you look back oh yes history again, there were to the modern eye massive crops of sections taken especially in Ireland. Literally hundreds of sections per colony. More the bees were known as section bees as they withstood...

You lost me on the more wax without honey?? How do you get to that thought? PH

    Cut Comb frame.

It's all about the locality Dani. I approached a shop a month or so back and they have ripped my arm off for comb honey. PH

    Cut Comb frame.

Why not so long as there is a pretty side for the buyer to admire? It's the weight that counts and most of my CC are circa 12 oz but I charge for 8. PH

I occasionally get combs That are too thick but I just shave off the excess from one side and wow they fit!!! Ex rocket scientist..LOL I put all my oddments in a bucket and then after a warm in the warmer they go through the cuttings bags in the extractor so no wastage at all. PH

I was reading the other day that many use SN1 sidebars for CC. I was intrigued as I always thought the Manley sidebar was the way to go given it's width of comb. I find myself that on average the chunks of CC fir the standard containers pretty neatly so why the interest in the SN1? Thoughts? PH

    3 feet a day - what if it's cold?

Just move them and cover the entrance with a board. Job done. Far less stress than fiddling every day. PH

Soft set from recently extracted honey

I agree with one proviso that in my experience OSR granulates big. This may well be a location issue or variety of OSR. PH

Soft set from recently extracted honey

Yes OSR will have crystals in it and frankly that's the issue. What the target is, is a smooth buttery honey which fails utterly to drip off the spoon or toast and feels beautifully velvety on the tongue. To achieve this the critical fact is the crystal size. It needs to be as small as...

Equipment For Sale Spool Stainless Steel framing wire

All up weight as per photo. Just under 5kilos. Spool is 6" or 150 mm. I framed some 1500+ frames from this and as you can see there is a considerable mileage left on it. I cannot and won't swear to it but memory says it was a 10km spool. Google says that 0.25kg is £20.80. Over to you to make...

    Warming honey

I use two 30 watt oil filled heaters in an upcycled chest freezer coupled with an STC 1000 controller. There are several YT vids which explain in detail how to wire it up and set it too. It will take heating and cooling limits. PH

    Best before and Lot numbers?

Yes I have just done this and the code is 8x10-R for 270 a sheet with the ability to set the print range. I had a quick look for a copy sheet but didn't find anything so went with Avery at £1 a sheet plus postage so that will do me for this year I think. LOL PH

    Best before and Lot numbers?

I am trying this again. I have a Epson printer: inkjet variety. I have jar labels. I am not wanting to print any of those. I am looking for a "system" to print on one small rectangular adhesive label the BBF and Lot#. That's all I am aiming at. What would also be very useful would be the...

Is there any interest before I input the time to weigh etc? PH

    Frame wire and brass rivets

I used to wire my super frames which made them that much more robust for going through the agitation that was applied to them pre heather extraction. I have a spool of it that lives in the garage, I have wired hundreds of frames from it and barely reduced the wire by 10mm. I will weigh it and...
