What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Thanks James, that's great. I'll hang on to this and put it somewhere I'll find it when I forget where I've put it. :)

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Before I ask if you could share any more info about these nucs, is there a link to a previous post where you've done just that? I can see the wood at the top to support the frames and the walls, all of which is clear. Are the floors the standard UFEs which some of us here make? Anything you...

Great job. Where is the timber recycled from?

    Bell heather soft setting/Cloudy

No doubt. Isn't bramble the country's largest forage source now in these post clover days?

    Bell heather soft setting/Cloudy

That is amazing. Also, to be so in touch with the bees' foraging activity.

    Bell heather soft setting/Cloudy

That makes sense. I'm one of the many; it was the only honey I bought. It was from Heather Hills Honey Farm in Blairgowrie and was always in the supermarket for a fiver - till I emigrated in 2017. I see it costs a bit more now. Edit: they do state that the honey contains both bell and ling.

    Bell heather soft setting/Cloudy

When I lived in Scotland, I would buy heather honey all the time. It was cloudy and slightly runny - like unset soft-set. It smelt and tasted of heather honey, undoubtedly, but it didn't look like the clear bubbly heather honey I buy now in England. I have no idea why the two are different - in...

    Thymol death syrup

I've not had invert go mouldy (possibly because I've hardly ever used the stuff) but I wouldn't be bothered with putting anti-mould stuff in 2:1 syrup if I hadn't found that it did go off - in a surprisingly short time.

    Broodless colony

My wife has made a study of J M Barrie and that has included places connected with him. So, yes, we have been to Kirriemuir. It's good to make such connections with present and past.

    Thymol death syrup

a very brief look-up leads me to believe that it is not banned in the EU. https://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/efsajournal/pub/5625

    Thymol death syrup

I would never serve mouldy food to any animal (including humans).

    Thymol death syrup

I've used thymol this way in the past to prevent mould (and possibly minimise nosema?). However, it has a smell I really can't stand so when someone suggested an alternative I went for it. I made a LOT of syrup this year and there has been no mould. I used potassium sorbate. You make a stock...
