A patch/blob of something on the landing board. It was thicker than it looks in the pic and the bees were crowding round it and seeming to eat it. There are no trees or plants above the hive for it to have dropped from.

There’s someone local selling a hive with some bees. Says it hasn’t been opened for ages but the colony seems to be very busy. What sort of questions do I need to ask? Is it an ok thing to do?

Could have spilled some. Since they’ve been in the poly tunnel I’ve got my friend to dab some in the actual hive. I think I might have to drive over and take a look. The suspense is killing me.
